Weeks 35 & 36 - US Open - Flushing Meadows, New York City (hard) - main draw

The draw won't be made until later this week, with play in the main draw starting next Monday.  According to Darts, Cam & Dan will be the only Brits seeded, while Andy, assuming he's recovered from the abdominal strain that kept him out of Cinci, misses out by just three places as things stand.  This Metro article describes the injury as "a minor problem" & reports that "Tin Pan" (Tim Henman) reckons he'd relish the challenge of playing Alcaraz or Djoko, ideally with two or three wins under his belt.  Let's hope that the draw is kind to him.

We have to hope that one of the Brits in qualies comes through to join these guys as well, opportunity is certainly there. Fingers crossed it is 4!

Not to mention that Jack Draper is fit to play!

Providing Jack and Andy are fit, I fancy 4 out of 4 here.

Jan C beat Galan recently in Hamburg

Dan Evans beat Shevchenko recently in Washington

Liam beat Moutet recently in Washington, also

Jo Monday almost beat Albot recently at Wimbledon qualies

Definitely all beatable by our lads - let's see!

Looks like no Brits playing on Monday men or women unless there is a qualifier.

Also Andy not on a top 2 court on Tuesday, wonder if they would put him lower than Grandstand?

Do they still play round one over 3 days here , or the more traditional every two days slam approach?

Thanks TA. good to see it is a more traditional slam schedule now; super Saturday used to be interesting for viewers but incredibly unfair on any player who ended up in a 5 set semi!
strange the juniors arent shown on this schedule and also that the mens and mixed doubles finals seem to be slightly fluid dates wise, not sure why that would be?

Andy aside, presumably the other courts are purely outside courts with no real stands etc?

Most of the courts have a stand at least on one side.  Much bigger capacity than Wimbledon.  When we went last year we easily got on any outside court

There was a LL spot (Nishikori withdrew). Duckworth got the spot.
