Holger Rune is out already

Musetti and Felix also knocked out in R1

Griekspoor (24) follows them out of the exit door, beaten in five sets by Arthur Fils in two minutes shy of four hours.

And Khachanov (11) bites the dust, beaten in straight sets (2, 4 & 2) by Michael Mmoh in two hours & 20 minutes!

Which annoys me - am seriously not a fan of Mmoh

But the GB lads and lasses did SO well yesterday that all is forgiven biggrin

Wonderful day (or two days) of British tennis - who'd have thunk it ?

Context matters - Karen was out injured since the French Open. Only played a doubles match (lost) in Cinci before the USO

Praying Draper can just stay fit. He can be SO good

So good. When we think about Jack (or when we hear about him) it's often about his lefty serve and his power from both sides but his defense is slept on. It's really exceptional when he's fit. I hope and can't wait for a healthy year on tour - imho he's as good/will be as good as Sinner, Rune, Stefanos etc when fit. He's shown he can beat them all already. Really exciting.

And when you think he's hardly been able to play recently either. He's doing great. Like you all, just only hope he can stay fit.

Fab day for GB tennis. Some really tough matches in the next round but they've done so well.

Today could hardly have gone better for the British lads!   smile

L64:   Jack Draper WR 123 vs (17) Hubert Hurkacz (POL) WR 17 (CH = 9 in November 2011)

Hurkacz had a five-set battle with Marc-Andrea Hüsler which lasted three hours & 12 minutes to get through his match.

A great day although a bit frustrating that Murray and Draper face much more difficult second round matches than looked the case at one point .

Molcan should have beaten Dimitrov and Huessler served for the match .

Fantastic set of results. I can't remember a time when everyone of our men and ladies players reached rd 2. 7/7 can be really applauded.

Some thoughts from Andy on the (farcical) first use of VAR in tennis at Flushing Meadows.

But not just any qualifier - Stricker is the new big name in Swiss tennis, or tennis in general, ever since he won Roland Garros Juniors - he's an absolute fave. Watched all his Wimbly quali matches. Bit up and down still. But young and so exciting.

First on at noon, 5 pm BST.

I see they have just been scheduling 2 day session matches on Ashe before the 2 night matches. My mind may be playing tricks but hasn't it for years been 3 in the day ( which then often overruns )?

Today on Ashe, Gauff and Djokovic have won in 1 hour 16 minutes and 1 hour 59 minutes respectively.
