Just slightly disappointing for Mika - Alanis is the girl that Ciara beat in Roehampton - I expect she's better on hard than grass, though

Girls R2

(4) Mingge Xu v Ashton Bowers (USA)
(15) Elizara Yaneva (BUL) v Hephzibah Oluwadare

Like Mika, Mimi ends up just on the wrong side of a tight loss

BUT Charlie scores a super win over the the 5th seed, and Hep comes through a nail-biter against the 15th seed

Boys R2

Charlie Robertson def. (5) Arthur Gea (FRA) 6-7(4) 7-6(3) 6-0

Girls R2

(4) Mingge Xu LOST to Ashton Bowers (USA) 7-6(2) 1-6 6-4

Hephzibah Oluwadare def. (15) Elizara Yaneva (BUL) 6-2 4-6 7-5

Hep is also through to the doubles QFs (the boys are a round behind)

What a win for Charlie. Very good for Hep. Good luck to both in the next round.

Charlie backs it up with another top 50 scalp today. Hep plays the young Australian who has been a familiar opponent of Brits over the past few months

Boys R3

Charlie Robertson def. (12) Lasse Poertner (GER) 6-4 2-6 6-3

Girls R3

Hephzibah Oluwadare v (2) Emerson Jones (AUS)

Good effort form Hep, and she's made the semis of the doubles too

(as have the 13 year-old Penickova twins)

I was just looking at the us junior entry list and noticed Ranah isnt in the girls list. Has she stopped junior play now or is she injured?

Also hadnt spotted Ella had dropped down to 40 in the rankings. She is in the us junior entry list though, but presumably she will transition to adult play after this?

I don't know whether Ranah is injured or not. She entered and then withdrrew on Aug 20th, but she may just have entered to keep her options open even if she'd been doubtful about going

Ella is #10 on the US Open list because it's pre the drop down

But she is 2005 born so she obviously has to move over to adult play full time very soon as she's only got another 2 months of juniors and there are no really important events apart from the ITF Junior World Finals and it's very unlikely that she'll make those.

Ranah, obviously, is 2005 born too - junior tennis is all a bit academic for those players by the time you get to the US Open

I'd argue that Ella has already largely transitioned to adult events. She's played 11 adult events this year compared with only 6 juniors, which are the 3 junior Slams and a lead in event for each.

Charlie plays his doubles quarter-final later today after his singles. The girls doubles semis are tomorrow presumably (not today anyway)

Girls Doubles SF

Chung/Hamilton v (8) Crossley/Oluwadare (JPN/GBR)

Ranah was on the acceptance list but withdrew about 5 days ago. Any ideas why?
