June 2023 Player of the Month Vote - final

So, the following players have made it through the semis.

Vote for your player of the month below:

The vote will last 24 hours from posting, so approx 9.20pm Tuesday close

Numbers below represent their nomination number when first nominated, the poll shows the players in this order:

Finalists
3 Isabelle Lacy - qualifying for Surbiton 100k and beating top 100 Madison Brengle in the MD, followed by Golubic at Ilkley

8. Katie Swan - playing superb tennis the whole week at W100 Surbiton, beating the #1 seed (WR67) and reaching the biggest final contested by a British woman for a year or so.

14. Andy Murray - Andy returns to the top.40 for the first time since 2018 and no doubt the first top 40 singles player with a metal hip, after his Surbiton and Nottingham challenger titles.

15. Katie Boulter - for winning her first WTA 250 title at Nottingham as a wild card, the first all British WTA final for 46 years, in the process re-entering the top 100 for the first time since 2019 and reaching a career high of WR77. It also consolidated her new position as British #1, which she became for the first time by reaching the Surbiton SF the previous week.

16. Jodie Burrage - for being runner up for the first time in a WTA250 at Nottingham as a wild card, which was also the first all British WTA final for 46 years.

20. Anna Brogan - reaching the final round of Wimbledon qualifying despite little support from the powers that be and beating the 5th seed

21. Oliver Tarvet - winning the Tunisia M15 title, thus regaining his ranking ( at a CH in the top 1000 to boot ), winning eight matches -  in qualifying (three) and the main draw (five), while dropping just one set all week. It was his first tournament of the year.

Looks like one of the semis groups is proving stronger than the other, slightly surprisingly to me, Id thought they would be quite even!

I finally decided to give Jodie my vote as she has beaten 5 top 100 players this month.

Thanks Peter, a good day for Jodie!

Katie B gets my vote.

But Peter did get me thinking more about Jodie. I hadn't appreciated that she had beaten 5 top 100 players in the month, which is actually 5 more than Katie B.

But Katie B got the Nottingham 250 title and top 100 spot, beating Jodie in the final. So I have stuck with her, ahead of a number of good candidates.

But Jodie is off to a flier for July

Maybe Jodies write up needed to be stronger to reflect her achievements?

26 votes in so far - all the players have votes. Ill do a score update around lunch time.

Vote will close around 9.20pm.

Note - second place will qualify as well as first for player of the season in December .

And third and fourth are important to that also for one of the end of year PoS wild card slots.

I wont explain here, but this link gives more details in the opening post

Would be great if this months vote helps us get back above 40 votes again!

No player has won more than one player of the month vote yet this season and that trend looks likely to continue. Indeed the top 2 are likely to be new faces to the podiums this year.

It really is a season with no standout player so far but that also makes it very interesting as we pass over into the second half of the year.
