Just going to use this thread to update and summarise over the season our player of the month winners and results and those qualifying for player of the season.
qualifying criteria for player of the season 2023 will be:
Jan to Nov PoM and PoM runner ups over the season
British # 1 ranked players in respective world rankings as of end Nov - mens and womens singles, mens and womens doubles, junior boys and girls , wheelchair mens , womens and quads singles
player or players with most tour (ATP, WTA or ITF) singles and doubles title Jan to Nov
player or players with most 3rd or 4th placed PoM places over season
wild card vote winners as necessary to round PoS field out to an appropriate number
some of the above will inevitably end up as duplicates, which is fine, if past two years are indicators we will end up with a field of 28 or so players.

Votes in 2023 have been a consistent 42, 44, and 42 again. So we seem to have hit a level , which is good.
That is around 15 percent up on the average for last year, which is good and well ahead of 2021 and 2020 when this all started.
Next polls will be as follows:
April PoM vote - April 30th May Pom vote - May 28th (French Open starts that Sunday).
June Pom vote - July 2nd (Wimbledon starts 3rd) July Pom vote - July 30th August Pom vote - August 27th (US Open starts 28th) Sept Pom vote - October 1st October Pom vote - October 29th November Pom vote - November 26th
And then Player of the season will aim to finish around December 16/17 or so.

Liam Broady has now for a third and fourth place in the 3 votes this season and is the most consistent podium performer in Pom votes. Quite possibly having the best season, relatively , of all our players I would say. Anyone performing more consistently well compared to their relative level , mens or womens, singles or doubles? Maybe Julian and Henry in mens doubles; apart
From Jodies big week last week, anyone on the womens side?
I would have though Jan Choinski must have one of the best rises in ranking this year but he hardly gets a mention in the POMs (although he was nominated).
I would have though Jan Choinski must have one of the best rises in ranking this year but he hardly gets a mention in the POMs (although he was nominated).
indeed, I think this may have been his first nomination in a long long time
Jan C did get nominated in October (for winning the Challenger title in Campinas, Brazil, having come through qualifying to even get into the tournament in the first place) but only came 6th or 7th in the vote (although he did get votes). If he had done that this month, I wonder if he would have got better recognition? Someone winning a challenger in South America now would get a lot of my attention, am not actually sure why it didnt get more attention and votes at the time...
Maybe it is also about profile - someone doing well with some supporters ie fans on the board may tend to get more "press" on the forum and this translates into more voting and more nominations? We have some folks here who put forward more people, perhaps we need to make sure more of us put people forward more often and spread the love around so that these types of players like Jan , who maybe fly beneath the radar, get picked out more often!

Ive just realised Madrid starts Wednesday 26th. it makes it a bit awkward but most of Madrid and business end is in May , so April Pom period will end April 30th still which covers 4 weeks incl challenger and itf events.
british players in Madrid that first few days will have their results count to May pom performances and Most will only have played maybe one match by that weekend.
