Boys: 2023 European Summer Cups - U12/U14/U16/U18

Out of interest, I noticed on the Junior DC website our team for the forthcoming finals is

Great Britain: Oliver Bonding, Benjamin Gusic-Wan, Zechariah Hamrouni

Captain: Martin Weston

The top 2 align with the U16 rankings here

te.tournamentsoftware.com/ranking/category.aspx

But it made me wonder re Zechariah and whether he is our 3rd strongest player. I dont know the juniors and at this age group, not at all, but there are a number of players above him and I wondered a) are they really stronger ranking wise and b) why arent they playing in our team?

And here are the Junior Billie Jean King Cup Final nominations including the GB team of Klugman, Xu and Oluwadare. I wonder if Stojsavljevic might be a better third pick on current form. It's on clay, so a tough task for the whole team.

Aah, Mimi posted a lovely pic on Instagram from Marbella - maybe having some downtime before the competition. It's really good that they get this experience as a team. They are constantly posting pics with Hep so perhaps it is the team vibe that has prevailed? Mika is still in the Sunderland tournament. Personally, I can see Mimi being good on clay in the future as she has the strength.

So we have never won the BJK juniors cup? Would the nearest be runners-up 2008 with Heather and Tara? See a certain Coco in the winning US team in 2018. Iga 2016.

Yes 2008 was our only final appearance. Heather and Tara, and a prize for anyone who remembers Amy Askew as the third member of the team.

We've been slightly more successful at under 14 level, with three final appearances.

I don't remember Amy (no prize for me) but I asume she's Beth Grey's sister?
