The all conquering Czechs were too much in the gold medal match, still not dropping a set, so the girls have to settle for silver and a place at the Junior BJK Cup, which isn't shabby smile

U16 F

(1)Czech Republic 3 (2)GBR 0

Laura Samsonova beat Hannah Klugman 6-4 6-3
Alena KovacKova beat Mingge Xu 6-1 6-3
Forejtkova/Samsonova beat Oluwadare/Xu 6-4 7-6(2)

Still a good performance. Well done, GB girls!

A great effort all round, but noticed that Mimi Xu only won one of her six singles matches across the group stages and final event. Assuming that this is more to do with the surface (clay) than any physical problems.

I doubt Mimi has a significant physical problem, as she was regularly asked to play singles and doubles, rather than utilise Hep.  The surface was I expect the main factor, combined with the fact that the Tennis Europe U16 rankings (which bizarrely rank Mimi 11, Hep 15 and Hannah 2117 because 2009 born players are given no credit for ITF points) meant that Mimi had to play the number 1 singles, and most of the opponents had much stronger number 1s than 2s

It falls to the under12s to bring down the curtain on the European Summer Cups season. The format is different. They are divided into 2 round robin groups (in their case with France, Czech Republic and Spain) with the top teams in each group contesting the gold medal match on Sunday (second would give a shot at bronze).

They made a perfect start today defeating Spain 3-0. Liv won 7-6(8) 6-3, Megan 6-0 6-2 and Ingrid/Megan 6-4 7-6(4)

Live scores are available here and there is live streaming tomorrow from court 2 where they take on host nation France (the finals are in Ajaccio). Go to this page for live streaming links

A tight finale to the under 12's second match saw Megan & Liv nick the doubles 11-9 in the match tiebreak. Earlier Ingrid lost 6-3 6-1 and Megan won 6-0 6-2. The upshot is that they will be in the gold medal match if they can beat the Czechs tomorrow

Yes, I noticed that. The rules are the rules but Mimi having to play number one every time was unfortunate for her.

For the first time since the competition's inception in 2007 the British under 12 girls team will take part in the gold medal match smile

Liv Zingg beat the Czech number 2 6-2 1-6 6-2 before Megan Knight claimed another emphatic win 6-2 6-1 to secure the tie and therefore an unassailable 3-0 record in the round robin group. Matches in the other group are still in play to determine the opposition tomorrow.

She seems to be one of the best of her age in the world. I like what little I've seen of her on live streams. She doesn't sit back and play the defensive sort of tennis that's so common with players of her age.

 Excellent

She's a real little fave and has been since age 10

Her dad is the England cricketer, Nick Knight

She's a natural ball striker, very good eye, good athlete.....

In the other Round Robin Group Israel also won all their 3 matches, so for the first time the winner will not be an East European nation. The final is on court 1 tomorrow so should be streamed

Live stream link from Tennis Europe is going to a different tournament, and I cannot find an alternative stream. Live scores are working though and Israel (Daniel Varanes) take the first set 6-3 against Liv
