Maybe the Hep v Kim match is to find the opponent for Mimi.... The referee messed up and he's doing this instead of a LL spot because he got the draws wrong

That was my guess as well having just read your previous post and investigated. Usually they redraw if that resolves the problem, but if they have ended up with 65 in the main draw by mistake and no-one pulling out to create an LL spot to reduce to 64 then having a preliminary contest between the 2 lowest ranked DAs is reasonable. Odd, if that is so, that they created the spot next to Mimi, as that does not allow country separation if Hep wins (just gone to a third set).
40. Administrative Error on Acceptance Lists If, due to an administrative error, too many players arrive on-site and sign-in to play the Tournament, the following procedures will be followed: the last two (2) players accepted into the Tournament based upon the most current updated Acceptance List (excluding Wild Cards and Qualifiers) will play a preliminary match for one (1) position in the draw.
Guess the guy who made the 'administrative error' is looking VERY sheepish at the moment.....
I expect whoever it was will have had to deal with complaints from reps of both players, and possibly Mimi as it is confirmed that Mimi v Hep is on the oop. If both players had been withdrawn before the draw was made then the 64th slot should have been allocated to GBR to avoid an all British clash. I suspect therefore that the mistake was discovered after the draw was made, Mimi being drawn against Kim, Hep omitted, and they weren't prepared to redraw.
Hep now has to play two matches in one day, having played three sets already. And is the only player to have to do so. Which is a clear disadvantage.
Yujin had to play her match knowing that she would have to play another match later if she won, and may well have therefore changed the way she approached the match, or approached the third set
As you say, we now get an all-GB R1 draw which is generally not allowed
It's small change but Mimi has had to prepare for matches against either player whereas all the other players have had last night to prepare for their specific matches
It's not the biggest scandal ever but given that this is the serious end of junior tennis, with US college entries, careers, sponsorships etc all in the balance, it's pretty poor....
