Potapova was the only Russian in the main draw in Birmingham. As a 15 year old she was the junior Wimbledon champion of 2016 so could play on grass at a young age.
I don't think it was that dark on court - it was in the shadow of the stand and there was still a bit of sun on the top of the stand at the far end. The stream wasn't that clear earlier anyway - it took me until the change if ends in the earlier match to identify all the players.
I expected the inevitable trolls on social media after Katies defeat to Zhu, who after all is in the top 40. At 7-5, 7-5 it must have been hard fought.
Yesterday, I note Zhu beat Linette, ranked 20, I believe, 6-3, 6-0. Gives much more credence to Katies performance and result.
Zhu is a decent player and we need to bear in mind that Katie would have been suffering from physical and mental fatigue after the events of Nottingham. I still think that Katie would have her if they were drawn together again in Eastbourne or Wimbledon
