Heather saves 3 match points to get back to 6-6* but can't complete the perfect day. No excuses for that, she had two match points and should have won it.

Loses 2-6 7-6(3) 7-6(6)

Got to suggest Heather should be in doubt for a Wild Card for Wimbledon now. Heading towards 200 rankings. Last years performance might save her in that regard but given a number of players like Svitolina, Andreeva etc who should be in line for something theres probably going to have to be someone that misses out.

No joy for EWS. Wasn't the best performance but they do well to recover from *2-6 to *5-6 in the MTB only for Kempen to double fault and bring the momentum to a crash.

Lose 6-4 3-6 10-5

Katie S and partner a set up.

I'm certainly not calling for Hev's retirement, but the longer this goes on and the lower the ranking gets the more probable this is looking. I jam not sure how much fight she has left to get back to the top 100

Just Katie's match left to complete the doubles first round. *0-3 in the second

Her current official ranking is 180 but her live ranking  is 193.Heather's ranking has been falling in 2023 and it is hard to see her getting back to the top 100.

At a current ranking of 180, this is Heathers ' lowest ranking  since November 2010.

To be honest, I was glad when Heather lost.

It was pure torture.

Play well for a point or two. Just enough, always, to drag things out. But then resort to patting it around, with no plan, when it came to the important part.

I would have no problem at all if she didn't get a Wimbly WC (and I am the one who LIKES wildcards). Madison really is not a particularly good player.

Katie Swan was imperious. Didn't watch Katie B - knew she'd win. Sonay was delighted - her 'team' were bouncing - a real grass court 'suprise' for all of them And, as said, Eden proved my wrong and stayed strong. Good on her.

And, obviously, Isa's win was the real pinnacle today - an excellent show, on centre court, in front of a pretty big crowd (including a very happy Dad). Really took the ball on, and played her style of tennis.

For about a decade, heather has been the last British woman standing most of the time. Shes had a solid top 100 career for a majority of it, picked up 4 titles, and been a lovely, buoyant personality within British tennis. Id love to see her reach the top 100 again and notch up some big wins, but if she doesnt - she has been such an incredible and popular ambassador for the sport. Good luck to her for the rest of the grass season and beyond
