Week 23 - ITF W100 - Surbiton, Great Britain Grass

Katie S was pitiless.

Brilliant to see.

I truly thought Eden would bottle it. And she didn't:)

And Sonay also put out a nice performance, very reserved, as normal. But good movement and focus

5 out 5 so far and Heather should make it 6. No pressure on the other GB girls....

Good win for Eden - guaranteed GB QF

Ah, you mean in doubles, I was confused. Eden plays her R1 singles tomorrow.

Eden just won her singles Indy, against Zacarias

Err yes, folk, I was even more confused than I thought! Well done to Eden for winning her singles R1 today to add to her doubles R1 win.

Heather just missed three break points at 4-3* in the second but held well for 5-4*

Emily and Julia have got themselves sucked into a tough match after cruising to 6-0 2-0 40-40*. They've just broken though and will serve for it at *5-4

No magic from Maia and Naiktha, being well outplayed by the fourth seeds although the have just broken 1-6 *1-3

Emily and Julia win, but Naiktha and Maia are our first casualty of the day.
Heather having her usual drama trying to get over the line, serving for it as 6-5

She's returning addict. Missed two match points. First she hit a Great return then didn't follow it up, second she was too passive.

Tiebreak.

Well that tiebreak was as garbage as youd have predicted after the match points

6-2 6-7(3) 0-0*

Heather saves break point 1-1*

Em and Kempen broken from *40-0 courtesy of three double faults, which isn't the sort of thing that fills you with confidence for the rest of the day...

But win deciding points in the next two games. *2-3

Heather broke and went 40-0 up, then was extremely sloppy and got broken back.

2-2*

Heather *4-5

Em and Magali 4-6 1-1* - Magali double faulted on set point down, and Emily just double faulted at deuce to lose the break. That's 7 between them...

A horrendously fortunate let cord gives Inglis a *2-4 lead at the change of ends...
