We're all on the same page, Var

I don't feel at all aggrieved about the 'super-stars' like Mirra and Coco (and, after all, we had/have our own - young Emma - other countries would have sold their own mothers to have an Emma)

But, yes, I do feel we should have a batch of top-100 players. And I agree it's frustrating that Jodie, Harriet, Katie B and Katie S aren't in the top-100.

However, they are all pre their prime, they're not going to be Coco, that's for sure, but I truly believe that at least two of these will be top-100 soon, if not three or four.

And I don't think the Isa group are quite ready to take over there yet.

Marni and Millie are interesting - young, not playing full competitive schedules due to injury and studies, playing good tennis. I could see both of them making big moves up (but not top-100 quite yet).

It was lovely to see Sonay doing well. She's always been a little fave, just for being different. But her awful loss at RG, on her preferred surface, only a couple of weeks ago, can't be forgotten (although maybe it did her good?)

I'd expect only two wins today for the women - so not quite yesterday's win-fest. One will be a disaster. Three would be amazing - I've never been a fan of Naiktha's singles but everything's possible and Emily App certainly gave Wickmayer a decent match; equally, Dodin had been known to be a complete headcase on court, if Maia could just be irritating enough, it might just work....

 Disaster incoming

not started well, has it? !

Harriet grinds out the second set 6-4.

Naiktha loses 6-3 6-4

Maia serving for the second but long MTO for Dodin.

Harriet works so hard to get the break but just throws it away.

3-2*

Maia took the second but missed 40-0* early in the third and now a break down.

Maia gets the break back.

She's got to keep going to the forehand

Dodin will hit come crackers but she makes SO many mistakes - sprays the ball, barely gets it up, a bit of everything, it's a shot that breaks down so easily.

Whereas the backhand is pretty good

And as I write this, Maia goes to the backhand and Dodin hits her normal powerful backhand and Maia loses the point

Ah Maia letting this get away really isn't she? *2-5

Harriet broke again, good hold. Gets a match point at 5-2* which is nicely saved then plays two poor points. *5-3

Well, disaster avoided

Just.....

That was Harriet winning by the skin of her teeth....

But maybe the nerves are out of the way now... (I say more in hope than in belief)

But she won, so net net, all good

Perhaps that will settle Harriet down for the grass season. Both she and Heather looked nervous in the doubles on Monday and weren't anywhere near their best.

Not in any kind of form yet against the world 196. Hope she can pick it up for next round. Keep going Harriet! Tougher match up next against no 1 seed anked 67. Not sure how she plays on grass though.

 yes, I'll take it.....

I also note that the Turkish girl, whom Marni Banks really really should have beaten, has won today. So that's good (in a sort of way)

And Monnet lost which pleases me as I hate her forehand

I guess fitness is an issue, unsurprisingly considering how little she's played

I'm hoping that a Jodie meltdown isn't developing. Her body language isnt good right now. 1-1*

Some of this is laughably poor. Shots in the third set by Miyazaki at 1-0 deuce, and 1-1 van out prompting audible s******s from the crowd, poor girl.
