The singles finals resolve as 2 Europe - South America clashes. In the boys event Dino Prizmic comfortably disposed of American Darwin Blanch and Henry currently has won more games against him than anyone else he has faced. In the final he faces the first Bolivian to reach a junior final, Juan Carlos Prado Angelo (ATP799/JWR9).

The girls event has a symmetrical look about it, featuring a European highly ranked on the Pro circuit against a South American becoming the first from her country to reach a junior final. In this case it is Australian Open champion Alina Korneeva (WTA331 and aiming to become the first player since 1990 to win the Australian and French in the same year) and Lucciana Perez Alarcon. The Peruvian, like Prado Angelo , won the South American Championships earlier in the year and both have won a high percentage of her junior matches in 2023. Lucciana came through the half of the draw with Kaitlin Quevedo (who sustained an injury in her round 2 match, subsequently giving Hannah+ a w/o in the doubles) . Korneeva was close to defeat against the experienced German Ella Seidel (WTA385), who you may recall from her match with Ranah at the Australian Open, but has not been troubled since

I watched a little of Lucciana Perez Alarcon's semi today. The girl is terribly short, but very tenacious. I wasn;t that blown away by either of them, though, to be honest

DavidC, what happens now with the British juniors? I recall, didn't Mimi get a wildcard for Ilkley last year? Would Hannah get one this year? Just wondering if any of them will be playing at home on grass in the next few weeks. I suspect with the British women all needing wildcards, there wont be much left for them. Thanks you!

Both contests ended up fairly comfortably with the European player - only saw a few points of both matches, so won't comment other than to point out again that Henry gave Dino Prizmic his toughest match of the tournament, in terms of games won. Alina Korneeva emulates Magdlena Maleeva (one of the three Bulgarian sisters who all reached the WTA top 10) in winning both the Australian and French titles in the same year.

Boys F

(3) Dino Prizmic (CRO) d. (8) Juan Carlos Prado Angelo (BOL) 6-1 6-4

Girls F

(3) Alina Korneeva (***) d. (6) Lucciana Perez larcon (PER) 7-6(4) 6-3

Isabelle gets an Ilkley MD WC and Hannah an Ilkley QWC as prizes for U18 winner/finalist.  A number of other juniors such as Talia, Ranah and Ella are on the alternates list, and may get in to Ilkley qualifying but will probably need wildcards (Ranah didn't need one last year). Mimi would definitely need a wildcard as she is much further down the list
