Thanks for posting. Love the ball girls. They can barely see over the net but are doing a great job!

Hollie had matchpoints at 5-2*, but having failed to convert had to combat some spirited resistance in the next game to hold on and win 6-2 6-3

I turned it on about 15 mins ago - it was match point - and I though, damn, missed the match

Only for it still to be going on 15 mins later !

Yes, a lot of trouble closing that out

But an excellent win for Hollie

Well done Hollie. A battling win in the end.

It will be the much touted top seed tomorrow (10am I think). Ksenia has started her ITF Juniors with a 29-2 record, as well as being TE1

Girls F

(1) Ksenia Efremova (***) v (5) Hollie Smart

Good luck, Hollie

Interestingly, Ksenia hasn't played junior ITF events since last October.

Just Tennis Europe events (and some local tournaments seemingly)

She certainly looked rather lacking in power and pace today, although very good in defence and moving well.

The final has started with Ksenia leading 4-1 and stream here (unfortunately I will not be able to watch further myself)

Hollie lost, 7-5 6-1

(Although she won the doubles title yesterday so well done for that)

She was very very nervous at the start, could barely play.

Then found her stride. And played some really good clay court tennis - had Efremova on the move....

But Ksenia kept very calm, as is one of her strong points. And Hollie got a little tense again when she'd got it back to 5-5. And it all went downhill after that.

But a very good week. And a lot of improvement being made, and experience clocked up.

A nice picture of Hollie and Ksenia (Hollie is the taller girl, with black skirt, just for clarity)
