Katy did well to recover from *3-5 to *5-5 40-15 but couldn't take three game points, then missed two break points.

6-1 5-7 *0-0

Looked a real battle for Katy. I watched the first set and can only assume her opponent really upped her game as she was not good in the bit I saw.

And Hep comes through too !

It's like a kindergarten picnic

As you way, Paul, her opponent was pretty dire.

But we'll take it - great win for Hep - 6-2 6-2 - very comfortable - 5 points - all good

Super from the young guns. And good if it helps spread attention rather than overmuch just focussing on one of them.

Did Hep pick up any points last year?

She won a QR1 round twice in two 25ks

But you have to get to the FQR, don't you, to get the point?

And I know she got a wildcard into Nottingham WTA qualis - and lost - but you get a point for that, I think

So I would go for she's got one point already, but that's it

Someone else might have a proper record though

 That's a first biggrin

Meanwhile, Naiktha has taken the first set 6-1 against young Mika

(it's great to see the youngsters do well but they've got to consier the pride of our older players - well, the GB older players, that is, no problem if they want to completely p**s of the foreign older players )

Alice Gillan has also lost the first set 1-6
