If I put myself in Emma's shoes. I've had twelve months of stop start tennis, multiple injuries, have a commitment to play a specific tournament, in the middle of the clay season... Do I risk playing this tie... Not a chance in hell. Furthermore if the so called captain then makes digs or calls me out on it I wouldn't be looking to play again in the future in a hurry.

Wow it's like the Daily Mail comments section on here. Captain makes factual comment that France played their best team, forum member says it's a dig at Emma with absolutely no evidence at all and everyone piles on.

I at least give Anne credit for being aware of the angle that could be taken. And she still chose to say it to add to the other bits and pieces

I dont think that particular comment was a dig at all but the reference to Emmas sponsors sounded a bit bitter. Anne isnt the most diplomatic sometimes and it just makes the team set up sound a bit Mean Girls - whether true or not.

On another note, looking at the entry lists for the next few weeks makes it clear why the girls playing, were playing, and others werent - clear divide between those trying for a clay season and those after points elsewhere on hard (Katie and Harriet!)

Who then is the Regina George of the GB squad?

Based on the updated rankings, I believe we will be seeded 4 in the play-off draw, and can face (in ranking order):

Mexico, Argentina, Austria, Netherlands, Hungary, Sweden, Colombia or Korea.

Hungary probably the toughest out of that lot, but all very beatable.

Columbia away would be awful. Just like in Davis cup would probably chose clay at altitude. Away to Argentina on clay wouldn't be great either.

The BBC is reporting that we will face Sweden at home in November.
