You and I, Indy, were the Resident Cheerleader Squad all last year
Poppyc*ck to all this 'she's going to quit to do her modelling stuff'

I'm in that club too. I actually think it's a bit misogynistic some of the stuff in SM as you never see that about youngish male players who've won GSs that they should now give up and become house husbands or models just because they've had a few injuries. Does my head in.

I think the interview on the BBC website with Emma is very refreshing.
It is clear there is a significant gap both tennis wise and fitness wise between Emma and Iga right now and this she freely acknowledges.
A shame she wasn't a bit more competitive but this has been a very positive few days for Emma especially so considering her participation in the event was in doubt almost up to the time of her first match itself.
If she has a true persistent wrist injury then she will need to manage her schedule with a great deal of care and I wonder if playing the BJK is the best thing to do for her?
I love this event except for the courts themselves which really should be dug up and made to be a bit quicker or they may as well replace them with clay.
It was always going to be a massive ask for Emma against Iga. But what a positive week and she looks happy. Clearly got a good team around her now. Let's hope for less injury and illness moving forward. No reason why Emma can't be back inside the top 30 by summer.

Its the same with injuries Nix. I have often read that Emma's injuries are down to too much modelling/lack of training, not taking it serious enough etc etc whilst any other young player (Draper for example) is just struggling with being new on a demanding tour. We have all read some nonsense regarding Emma. In my opinion she has always explained it just how it is, very honest in her assessments......others hear what they want though I guess

Top 30 that soon would be a very good challenging target even if she keeps fit.
Her current live ranking points = 839
Points to come off prior to Wimbledon = 302
Therefore guaranteed minimum points remaining prior to Wimbledon = 537
Current live #30 has 1392 points.
So, as a guide, for Emma to reach 1392 points she would need to add 855 points from Miami on, through the clay season and into the grass season.
If she achieves that, great. If she doesn't but the signs when she plays remain encouraging, still good.
And she will still be at the mercy of the draws, presuming being still unseeded for the French Open and big WTAs.

Think I may have been thinking too far with those rankings figures. Maybe top 50. But main thing is to be happy and healthy and getting her game back on track. Really enjoyed watching Emma this week. It sets my mind into overdrive as to how good she could go on to be over time.
Maximum of around 8 main tour events (not counting the W125's) before Eastbourne, and she may not be able to get into the big ones such as Madrid and Rome (both 96 draws so cut-off around WR78) depending on results before then. So she'd probabbly need at least a couple of wins at every tournament to rack up 855 points. Possible, but needs a bit of luck with the draws - and to stay injury free of course.
Manging it in time for the USO - now that does look promising.

Glad I'm not the only one who finds it irritating. Yes she's very honest and deserves more respect for her achievements and commitment. We all know the dedication that goes into becoming a top 100 player, let alone winning a GS!
There is now a big gulf in points between the top 6 women and the remainder. Something that the WTA can market and promote the women's game.
Yes, with a nice country range, and some different styles of play - it's an interesting group (and even a couple below too). Carayol makes the point about the top three:
Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina: - the three current grand slam champions - the top three players in the WTA race - 3/4 semi-finalists in Indian Wells Not bad.
