Week 10 - WTA1000 - Indian Wells, USA Hard

Well, the rest of her game wasn't solid with the other coach, when she stood 1.5 m behind her line and hit nothing but rounded top spin shots - so brilliant to see that's a thing of the past

Half an hour in and serving for the set, 5-1.

Haddad Maia has made some adjustments in the second set here and Emma's not coping with them too well up to now 6-1, 1-4.

Well Emmas serve fell off a cliff in that 2nd set. Will need to pick that back up to stand a chance in the 3rd. Haddad impressive in her adjustment to Emmas game.

Regardless of the result here do we think Emma will make Miami next week?

Laura Robson mentioned she was going to see somebody about her wrist after Indian Wells so I guess it will depend on that. She could very well decide to skip the clay

Pretty much perfect serving from Emma in set one. Pretty much perfect serving from BHM in set two and she cut out the errors. Combined with Emma losing her first serve rhythm it was easy going.

Suspect BHM continues to pull away but some good signs from Emma today whatever happens.

Fun set this. Emma doing a lot of the right things, throwing in a few different balls after allowing BHM far too much rhythm. But the Brazilian just hitting so big.

It would be a shame if she couldn't make Miami where the conditions should suit her far better. Lots of these balls aren't going away which would be clean winners on the East Coast.

*2-3

Yes definitely I think Emma will take a lot of confidence from her level at this tournament.

Emma playing better in the 3rd, encouraging fighting spirit. Could go either way

Whatever the end result, this is a fantastic performance from Emma. Haddad Maia is playing incredibly well

Surely the best she's played since the US Open win?

I see Liam Broady isnt a fan of the Brazilian questioning if she should have been accepted back on tour so easily. Does seem to be more South Americans in bother in that respect than anywhere else.

Wow Emma looking good here some really hard hitting here from both. The crowd are loving her its fair to say. Pleasing so far if she can hit the ball as hard as that its a good sign fitness wise
