wonderful to see how Liam has turned around his past 6 months or so... hopefully this should shoot him straight up to the seedings in India next week

(And, yes, well done to Liam - great to be competitive - really made Med work for it in that first set - you could see the effort he was making)

Bit more straight forward this time and a little less on court time! Won the last 2 sets 6-1 6-2

With the best will in the world, I'm not so sure:

QF:  (WC) Andy Murray WR 70 defeated (Q) Alexandre Muller (FRA) WR 172 by 4-6 6-1 6-2 in two hours & 5 minutes smile

*****

SF:  Jiri Lehecka (CZE) WR 62 (CH = 37 at the start of the month) vs (WC) Andy Murray WR 70

The Czech rising star saw off Ruusovuori in straight sets in the last 16 & the top seed, Rublev, in three sets in his QF.

One more win and he goes top 50 and also ousts Jack as British number 3, for now at least

On the basis of him being the underdog in the semi-final and against either potential final opponent?

He will likely face Medvedev or FAA in the final and he hasn't got a good record against the current top 10, so I don't think he will win and that he has a 50-50 chance of getting through to the final.

Yes I would go along with most here. He wont win the tournament, 50/50 in the semi and if he gets to the final then thats a great effort and puts him in a good place. Given he has said he wants to play the French one more time Im assuming he will want a seeding for this to be more practical.

I cant see Andy back in the top 32 if Im honest, top 50 sure but then we have all
Been proved wrong by him before.

Sorry for being positive about the chances of Andy - I am just in awe, and wouldn't put anything past him.

Abslutely no need to apologise, Jaffa.  I think those who disagree with you are trying merely to temper your optimism.  wink  I, for one, wuld love to be proved wrong!
