Week 8 - ATP 250 - ExxonMobil Open - Doha, Qatar (hard)

QR1:  (qWC) Mubarek Shannan Zayid (QAT) UNR (CH = 1159 in December 2016) vs (q8) Liam Broady WR 140 (CH = 116 last February)

He'll probably face the q1, Basilashvili (WR 84), if he wins that one.

I believe the Qatari is unranked, 1617 is his current doubles ranking. Has a singles career high of 1159. Liam should be getting through this one.

A nice easy practice match here. If Liam loses anymore than 4 games in this match I will be shocked. Good money and points to start.

Bugger!  You're right!  Made the usual mistake of not looking sufficiently closely at the ATP default setting!    Corrected!

That's a decent chunk of dollars for Liam as well.

Basilashvili will drop out of the top 100 on Monday as his points from making the final in last years Doha event drop off. Showing as live 112 whereas Liam is live 146.
In terms of the ATP 2023 race Liam is 65 and Nikoloz is 166.

Liam v. Nik Bas is an intriguing encounter. An in form Liam against a player who did so well here last year. I think a win for Liam would mean more or Liam than it would for Nik, but both players are pros.

I've never considered Liam to have the potential to be a top or even mid level doubles player, but the occasioanl run out with a top tenner might influence his choice of tournament and also help his bank balance.

I have a lazy day today, I would enjoy watching Liam v. Nik.  Is the Tennis TV stream any better than the Bet365 stream?

Steve
