Weeks 3 & 4 - Australian Open - men's singles (outdoor hard)

Andy hitting big now when the chance presents. Gets to 40-15 but a couple errors and chuntering to himself helps. A nice wee power cut slice and then another nearly take the game but RBA gets this one. More chuntering to himself and another passing forehand brings up game point. A delightful point of lobs and chips end with RBA trying a hotdog. What a game there from both. Great entertainment after the first set and half.

1-6 7-6 1-1*

RBA holds to 15 but point of the game was Andys. After being dragged left and right made a passing run shot and nearly ended up in the crowd. Youve got to think Andy will struggle once the adrenaline wears off.

1-6 7-6 *1-2

Murray holds to 15 needed that a couple of aces and painting the line helped there. He looks sore when pushing off from serve. Wee bit of ginger movement. Just as well that was a short one.

1-6 7-6 2-2*

RBA holds from Deuce a big point on the Deuce both players all over the court and RBA just about doing enough. If Andy is to break its probably better it comes towards the end of the set Ive always thought.

1-6 7-6 *2-3 RBA

Goes 0-30 down but some dogged Andy shots get him back and another end to end rally bring up game point. Nets from an RBA forehand but another massive swat winner on the forehand gets him to Ad. Unreturned serve and hes another game closer. Or further.

1-6 7-6 3-3*

Walking around like a 75 year old between points however.

Very quick love hold from RBA, probably a good thing in some respects. We need an easy one now for Andy then a big effort to break.

RBA breaks this time as Andy nets. Such a shame there did all the hard work.

RBA serves out to love. Ominous now could be a wee 6-2 to finish you feel.

Tired and leggy Murray now plodding along helped by a couple RBA errors into the tramlines and he takes the game from Deuce. Im certain he wont win this set but he good if he got close.

1-6 7-6 3-6 1-0* RBA

Wow lol etc etc

From nowhere a break point appears after a whizzing forehand return. RBA goes long and its game on again. 3 unforced errors from RBA unheard of for him.

1-6 7-6 3-6 *2-0
