Mens - Alfie is 2nd seed and plays Egberink of NL, 10th ranked and a tough opener. Gordon Reid is unseeded and plays Cataldo of Chile, who is ranked 12th.
Womens - Lucy plays and plays 7th ranked Tanaka of Japan, Lucy is ranked 11. Tough match but at least not a seeded opponent.
Quad - Andy Lapthorne plays 8th ranked Canadian Robert Shaw; Andy is ranked 9th.
We should hope for 2 wins, 3 if the runes fall in our favour.
Not sure what is going on in Andy Lapthornes match. He is 6-3 1-0 ahead but play has been suspended some half an hour ago whilst all other courts seem fine; it doesnt seem to be weather related but the next match hasnt come on , so it doesnt feel like someone has retired injured.
I just flicked on the match to look for you and it says heat policy in effect - play suspended.
Thanks Wolf - I wonder if the heat policy differs for the wheelchair players? as the other matches due on all seem delayed in that event, whilst other matches go ahead on other courts in the main draws and juniors
It does. ITF health care standards say Quadriplegic wheelchair tennis players, or players with limited trunk function, may be especially vulnerable to heat illness because of a diminished capacity to regulate sweating.

Well done Andy , beating Shaw in 3 sets. Good result.
Doubles draws out - Alfie and Gordon top seeds as youd expect; Andy plays with Donald Ramphadi, who he won the French with - they play second seeds Davidson and Shaw. Lucy is also in doubles, with French partner Deroulede , also play second seeds.
Meanwhile, Lucy, Alfie and Gordon all play opening singles later today.

Marvellous win for Lucy Shuker, really well done in 3 sets. With Alfie about to win, we look like we will get a full house today, which is really good. Keeping up the full house of singles wins in the opening rounds across all events !
The shock news is that Oda, world number one, lost 1 and 1 to Stephane Houdet of France. Not sure the story there but Alfie and Gordon will lick their lips at that !
In the doubles Alfie and Gordon went through as expected; Lucy lost her match. But the big win was Andy with Donald Ramphadi, beating the second seeds, Davidson and Shaw. Andy has done for Shaw in singles and doubles and that is really well done from him .
