The dates for the NEC Masters Wheelchair events have been announced and they will be early 30th October to 5th November in Barcelona.

www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/nec-wheelchair-singles-masters-itf-wheelchair-doubles-masters/esp/2023/wc-itfms-esp-01a-2023/

I dont think Barca has hosted this before and it will be on clay, which is an interesting development and a pointer towards the ATP Tour Finals etc, which continue to be on hardcourts and indoors each time. Moving a Masters onto clay and outdoors in early November is a very bold move!!

Also, Uniqlo have stopped their title sponsorship of the doubles event, which is back under an ITF banner - for some reason, NEC just sponsor the singles part of this joint event (it used to be separate, singles and doubles, so maybe the sponsorship deal is linked to that historic arrangement)

According to the RG website, Alfie, Gordon, Andy and Lucy will play at RG. The draws are 16 mens singles, 16 womens singles, and 8 for quads singles. Half again for each doubles event.

And here indeed are the entry lists

Mens Singles - Alfie and Gordon in this - I think only 4 get seeded though, so Gordon could get a duff draw; if 8 seeded , he is laughing!

4 GERARD Joachim (BEL)
5 SPAARGAREN Ruben (NED)

10 SANADA Takashi (JPN)
11 ARAI Daisuke (JPN)
12 SCHEFFERS Maikel (NED)
13 CATALDO Alexander (CHI)
14 RATZLAFF Casey (USA)
15 CATTANEO Frederic (FRA) WC
16 HOUDET Stephane (FRA) WC

Womens singles - Lucy in this field, but wont be seeded

2 KAMIJI Yui (JPN)
3 GRIFFIOEN Jiske (NED)
4 VAN KOOT Aniek (NED)
5 OHTANI Momoko (JPN)
6 ZHU Zhenzhen (CHN)
7 TANAKA Manami (JPN)
8 MONTJANE Kgothatso (RSA)
9 MATHEWSON Dana (USA)
10 SHUKER Lucy (GBR)
11 KRUGER Katharina (GER)
12 BERNAL Angelica (COL)
13 FUNAMIZU Shiori (JPN)
14 CABRILLANA Macarena (CHI)
15 DEROULEDE Pauline (FRA) WC
16 MORCH Emmanuelle (FRA) WC

Quads singles - Andy just crept in, but won't be seeded. I think it is just 2 seeds here

VINK Niels (NED)
2 SCHRODER Sam (NED)
3 WAGNER David (USA)
4 DAVIDSON Heath (AUS)
5 RAMPHADI Donald (RSA)
6 SHAW Robert (CAN)

Must have been bad weather in Barca this week - they are due to play two rounds of matches today, taking the men and women to the semis and quads to the final

Alfie surprisingly lost in the semis of the singles to Spaniard de la Puente, but Alfie and Gordon won the doubles.

French Open next. Alfie will be top seed, but it could be anyones to win; Alfie and Gordon will probably be favourites to win another slam title in the mens doubles
