2023 ITF Wheelchair Tour

And the semis draw is:

Men - GB v Spain and NL v France

Women - GB V Japan and NL v France

Juniors - GB v Australia and USA v NL

Quads - NL v Israel and Japan V USA

The womens and juniors play in the morning , the men in the afternoon.

By the rankings:

Juniors - very tight, ranking would suggest it will be 1 each in singles and combined rankings favour Aussies by 1 place in the doubles - v much a 50/50 toss up this one. NL look favourites to win the other match.

Womens - Japan will be strong favourites here and should beat GB, but you never know. A Japan v NL final looks almost certain though.

Quads - NL v Japan final here looks likely as well

Mens - GB look favourites against Spain but Spain are tough opponents. Good that Gordon is fit and in form here; NL look favourites over France

NL look like they could or should make all 4 finals. We should be in 1 or maybe 2 of them as their opponents, with a following wind!!

In the opening rubbers of the semis,

Juniors - Ruben Harris has just won handsomely in his opening match, and that was an upset - Ruben is JWR 15 and his Aussie opponent , Woodman, is 11. SO great win!! And we will be favourites to win the second singles now and tie up the match, fingers crossed!!

Womens - COrnelia is being predictably outclassed by her much higher ranked opponent but putting up a second set fight. 6-1 2-2 all currently

In the juniors , we have been runners up the last 3 seasons - twice to Australia, the defending champs, and also to Japan. Beating the Aussies (defending champions) would be a real boost if we can get over the line.

In the women's Cornelai goes down 1 and 3 , but that was expected. Even getting a set to the Japanese will be an impressive feat for our team!!

The US junior #2 has also upset his Dutch opponent, making that semi interesting.

In the womens semis, the Dutch won the opener versus France but the World number one is struggling in the second set versus her French opponent.

For the Brits - Joshua Johns is ahead in juniors, but Lucy Shuker is down in the womens.

Marvellous, Joshua Johns came through and won his match and GB Juniors are into the World Cup Final - 4th year in succession, can we win the title this year?!

The GB womens team went down to Japan and so it will be a bronze medal match versus France (who beat us in the group stages).

Boys opponents not yet known. USA and NL in a right old battle

Mens semi versus Spain starts next

Gordon Reid wins the opening match of the mens semis, over Spain, 1 and 0. Well done , Gordon.

In the other semi, France took the opener against the Dutch. Dutch look like winning the other but interesting tactical play by France. Their best player, Stephane Houdet, is ranked 44 or so due to a long while off through what was injury and semi retirement. So he is playing number two, and he won - but he is the best player. The French then rested their actual number one from the top singles as the Dutch guy is probably too strong, played their second ranked player at one, and will play their top ranked played with Houdet in the doubles, making sure he is fresh for that. If it comes off and France win, well done to them! Although their player playing at number one is actually running the Dutch close and, even if he doesnt win, could tire him a lot.

In the juniors, the USA beat NL and play GB in the final.

Should be an interesting battle.

In the mens semis, NL drew equal with France, comfortably in the end, and so it is down to the doubles; Alfie has started well against the Spanish number one, early break

As well as womens final of NL v Japan, and boys of GB v USA, the quad final will be NL v Israel - turned out they didnt have semifinals, it was straight to the final after groups.

And the Dutch came through to meet Britains mens team in the final.

NL have 3 finalists, GB 2 and USA, japan and Israel 1 each.

Not sure if the finals are all tomorrow but I have no idea - maybe 2 tomorrow and 2 Sunday ? Might make more sense.
