UK Pro League 2023

Also the UKPL write up is laudable in terms
Of the narrative it purports to promote - reality is, the creation of those rivalries and stories needs better promotion and curation to really deliver. A better website with more up to date reporting and stats would be a good start
!

I have emailed the organisers... let's see if I get a response.

Got a very quick response from the organisers of the event.

> Players must be UK national or UK resident, with a maximum of 2 UK resident only per draw. These are selected via WTA ranking. If there are less than 12 players entered with a WTA ranking then UKPL may select non-UK national or resident wildcards.

Now we know!

thanks Mark - that implies that they have a formal entry process with some sort of entry deadline, like the usual tour events? Which I guess is obvious. Presumably same for the men as well?

Super, thanks. That ties up the mystery of the entry criteria.

It also suggests it is aimed at WTA ranked women. Most of whom shun this event. I wonder if they've ever done research into why and how they could attract more ranked women to enter.

I suppose they could increase the prize money but it doesn't seem to be a problem for the men.

Was looking at the LTA Pro Player calendar again. Wouldnt surprise me if Week 7 on Grass is at Roehampton. Considering the AELTC now own th BoE sports ground. Id assume theyd want some more use of it. Maybe use a couple of the practice courts for Wimbledon qualifying. Be surprised if its just two courts used though considering its grass.

Id guess there is a chance. I guess wherever it is they will want indoor facilities as a back up.

The website seems to suggest next play is Tuesday ie non on Monday?

ukproleague.com/week-2-2023/

Scroll down the results and it then gives a schedule for 31st? Mistake?

Thrilled to see that Hamish got an amazing clutch win over Pelliwo, 14-12 (especially as I had a whole 50p on him )

With apologies to Toby, very pleased that Brandon got the win too

And George Houghton over Denisov

Alexis Canter also just ousted Sean Hodkin, 10-8 in the MTB

the girls was easier with wins for : Nadia, Elena, Anna and Michelle
