Interesting how this event was very popular and attracted lots of attention even as recently as last year but has clearly dropped off all of our radars. Its relevance as the chase for world ranking points returned is clearly diminished.
I wondered, though , if anyone knows how much prize money is on offer this week?
Also, they used to stream the events , didnt they, is there one this week and , more widely, any idea if there are any crowds in attendance ?
I went to the NTC today. Very good tennis in front of very few spectators. I made a note of the prize money which is really generous and is as follows. The same for both events:

Makes it all the stranger that world ranked British players were not falling over each other to get the 3 wild cards in each event!
That is decent money and strange that it is getting so little interest overall this time around. I wonder if it will survive next year? Id merge it with British tour as their elite level events if it was down to me.

I think those amounts are slightly down on previous years?
Players rarely prioritise ranking points over earnings. It's their living and these amounts, even at the lower positions, would be a godsend for most players. Anyway, there's 51 other weeks in the year to play 1 of the 16 (18 next year) tournaments that will count towards their ranking. I can only assume it's a cultural thing where they have the mentality they should be playing ATP/WTA/ITF and the UKPL, big money UTR, Progress Tour and higher level British Tour events are looked down upon when they should be seen as complimentary to the pro tours and an opportunity to boost the coffers to help fund their progress up the rankings. On the women's side, even discounting WTA ranked women, there are still scores of women not ranked who could have taken the WCs.
As to it continuing. When those who this is meant to be targeted at are not interested in participating and they can't even fill the draw for the big money finals week without scrabbling around to find an ex pro and no British women are interested in a WC, it has to be asked why bother continuing?

Well said and Im sure CD would tell us about the role prize money events like this is , play for the French players.
the interest in UKPL has diminished as this year developed with 7 events plus these finals, compared to 11 I believe last season. the player standards / rankings has slowly gone down. The Finals winners have been Liam, Emma R, Anton, Kyle and Elena Malygina (Im forgetting the womens 2021 winner) , strong winners in the past. The number of players playing in the qualifying weeks was much more spread which also led to a lack of narrative in the qualifying process to get to the finals.
of course, its backed by gambling money and as to whether it continues, I suspect the continued presence of that support will be the determining factor ultimately as , I think, CD reminded me above.
I see that Emily App turned up today
Back from her itf event
Obviously signed up as an alt
And got a play
Whereon she beat Summer Yardley
and now presumably will play off for 9th and 10th place
Which will be a nice pay cheque
And well done to Emily for showing some business savvy

Rather more money than the roughly $600 less deductions she got from her trip to France !
