RE: UK Pro League 2023

None of the women who have qualified are in ITFs that week, which suggests they think it is. Or it might just be a coincidence.

Oh well fingers crossed then- I think the top 9 qualifiers play plus 3 wild cards in both mens and womens?

The UKproleague have started publicising the finals on their Instagram. Three men and three women announced as taking part (and it confirms the date as posted above).

The list of players participating in finals week is now on the website.
https://ukproleague.com/finals-week-2023/

The top 9 on the leaderboard qualify, but 2 of the top 9 men are not playing - Louis Bowden and George Loffhagen. WCs appear to be Harry Wendelken, Giles Hussey and Joshua Goodger.

There's only 11 women named at present, 6 of whom do not play under the British flag, although to be fair at least 4 of them are, I believe, GB resident. All the top 9 play along with WCs Andre Lukosiute and Arina Vasilescu. The question is did no British women want a WC or were these the first choice WCs? If the former then once again I'm left scratching my head as to why? Two week winners are not here, Isabelle and Katy D. I assume Isabelle is still recovering from whatever caused her US trip to be cut short. Katy is playing an ITF, but would she not have found this more financially lucrative?

Thanks Lambda - at the bottom of the players list it says : hopefully this isnt the case! I think it is NTC based on the email I got above !

The date and location of the 2023 Finals Week is still to be determined

Emilia was a good British junior. Now works full time as a coach in North London.

Quarterfinals set in Pro League Finals
Men
Weightman v Goodger
Wendelken v Stewart
Hussey v Canter
Denisov v Brady

Women

Vasilescu v Malygina
Daley v Stresnakova
Wilson v Luksiute

This isnt necessarily by draw order, taken from order of play.

Interesting how this event was very popular and attracted lots of attention even as recently as last year but has clearly dropped off all of our radars. Its relevance as the chase for world ranking points returned is clearly diminished.

I wondered, though , if anyone knows how much prize money is on offer this week?

Also, they used to stream the events , didnt they, is there one this week and , more widely, any idea if there are any crowds in attendance ?

Weightman , Hussey, Wendelken and Brady proceed to the mens semis.

Lukosiute and Malygina into the womens so far.
