One of the PoS qualification categories is the best record of players coming in 3rd and 4th place in the PoM votes who havent qualified already. This is the current "ranking" of those players in contention. The way I have done it is that a player getting 3rd place in a PoM vote gets 2 points and a player getting 4th, gets 1 point. Partial points are awarded for ties - eg 3 players sharing 4th place get 0.333 points each, 4 players 0.250 points etc. Several other players have been in 3rd and 4th place but they have gone on to qualify for Player of the season. When 2 players are tied on points from finishing, I break the tie by the percentage of votes they have received accumatively across all PoM votes over the season. Hence, Katy Dunne had 1 3rd place finish for 2 points and in 2 of the PoM vote as accumulated 19.5% of the vote; Heather is second with 2 points and 13.3%
Katy Dunne 2.000 19.5
Heather Watson 2.000 13.3
Eliz Maloney 2.000 11.9
Ryan Peniston 1.000 11.8
Marni Banks 1.000 10.0
GB United Cup Team 1.000 9.5
Katie Dyson 0.500 9.1
Maia Lumsden/Naiktha Bains 0.333 11.5
Alisha Ndukwu 0.333 4.8
Sonay Kartal 0.333 4.8
Harriet Dart 0.333 1.6
Eleanor Baglow 0.250 6.1
Emily Appleton 0.250 6.1
GB Mens Wheelchair Team 0.250 6.1
Jay Clarke 0.250 6.1
Anyone taking part in the November PoM could a) get 3rd place and 2 points b) already have a decent finish from past months and add to it (eg Marni Banks would need another 4th place in a vote to proceed from 1 to 2 points. c) Heather or Eliz could add to their vote share in November
Worthy of note is that Heather sits second in both this category and in the womens doubles category, but could miss out on both. She isnt in the wild card vote however, so could miss out in all sorts of ways. If anyone sees this list and wishes to add a player to the wild card list, please go ahead in the other thread. Katy and Maia and Emily Appleton are already nominated for wildcards but Heather, Eliz, Ryan, Marni, GB United Cup team, Katie Dyson, Maia and Naiktha as a pair, Alisha, Sonay, Harriet, Eleanor Baglow, GB Mens Wheelchair team and Jay are not , in case anyone catches your attention!
Here is the latest titles leaderboard to end week 46 (subject to me missing anyone that Indy formally notes in the title winners thread).
To match 8 titles, anyone on 4 or 5 so far must get 3/4 titles in 2 weeks left - highly unlikely and many of them are not playing again this season. Nonetheless, this is the theoretical list if anyone pops up and starts winning lots of year ending titles!!
Next week, this list will just be of those within 2 wins of Alfie!
Player WINS Alfie Hewett 8
Maia Lumsden 6 Mingge Xu 6
Benjamin Gusic Wan 5 Beth Grey 5 Brooke Black 5 Charlie Robertson 5 Gordon Reid 5 Hannah Klugman 5 Hannah Read 5 Johannus Monday 5 Julian Cash 5 Luke Johnson 5 Marcus Willis 5 Mark Ceban 5
Emile Hudd 4 Emily Appleton 4 Giles Hussey 4 Grace Chinwike 4 Henry Searle 4 Jamie Murray 4 Joe Salisbury 4 Luke Hooper 4 Naiktha Bains 4 Oscar Weightman 4
the players I think can at least be on 6 titles this week are in bold - I might be wrong!!

From what I can tell, in the girls rankings, Mimi is still just ahead of Hannah, by approx 70 points.
Mimi, however ,loses around 240 points next week when her points from Merida come off (150 for singles and 375/4 for doubles). So she will drop a fair way back behind Hannah. Mimi, also, isnt playing in any of the North American events so wont replace those points whereas Hannah is playing and could improve.
It looks to me as if Hannah is 99% certain to be top junior girl come the end of the season and, from a PoS qualification perspective, in 2 weeks time.
It doesn't really matter as it is just academic (both are qualified for PoS) but nonetheless worthy of note.
So - we are going to have 28 players in the player of the season vote, it should be fun.
Throughout the season, we have player of the month and people nominate players and write a narrative that helps people when it comes to voting.
The players for player of the season have qualified through various routes and dont have a narrative. And for 28 players, that will be a lot of work, plus everyones view on an appropriate summary will probably differ.
So for player of the season Ill just provide a statistical summar of each players season. Their world ranking change over the year; their win / loss record ; and their tournament wins or high points.
I hope that is ok, folks who are vested in it can head off to find more out about a players year, this felt like the best approach.

However, doing this will miss important colour on a given player eg someone like Amelia Rajecki, who's season will be outside the official ITF etc related events and thus not get picked up effectively. So, when I post the records with the vote, ANYONE wishing to add comment and narrative around a player should feel free to do so, as it will help other voters in their decision making!!
For the records I put up, I will use the ITF and ATP/WTA as of 4th December. If they prove inaccurate, anyone can feel free to correct whatever I happen to put up!!

So, the only players that I think can now reach at least 6 titles at the end of this week, and therefore have a chance of equalling Alfie at the top by the end of next week, are shown in BOLD below. Is anyone playing this week that I have said isn't?
Player WINS
Alfie Hewett 8 (but not playing again this season)
Maia Lumsden 6 (I dont think Maia is playing this week and will only play doubles next week, so her max is 7) Mingge Xu 6 (Mimi has stopped for the season?)
Benjamin Gusic Wan 5 (not playing this week) Beth Grey 5 (not playing this week) Brooke Black 5 (not playing this week) Charlie Robertson 5 (playing singles and doubles in Merida) Gordon Reid 5 (stopped for the season) Hannah Klugman 5 (playing singles and doubles in Merida) Hannah Read 5 (not playing this week) Johannus Monday 5 (not playing this week) Julian Cash 5 (stopped for the season?) Luke Johnson 5 (stopped for the season?) Marcus Willis 5 (stopped for the season?) Mark Ceban 5 (not playing this week?)
Emile Hudd 4 (playing singles and doubles in Queensland) Emily Appleton 4 (out of singles in Valencia and can't reach 8 titles now) Giles Hussey 4 (not playing this week)
Grace Chinwike 4 (not playing this week?) Henry Searle 4 (not playing this week?) Jamie Murray 4 (stopped for season) Joe Salisbury 4 (playing DC finals but stopped thereafter) Luke Hooper 4 (not playing this week?) Naiktha Bains 4 (stopped for season?) Oscar Weightman 4 (not playing this week)
the players I think can at least be on 6 titles this week are in bold - I might be wrong!!
If my list is correct, then the only players that can equal Alfie are:
Charlie Robertson - but he needs to win a title at least this week in Mexico and win 3 over the next two weeks!
Hannah Klugman - as per Charlie !
Emile Hudd - needs to win singles and doubles this week in Australia and then do the same next week.
Realistically it ain't gonna happen!!
I wont call it until mathematically impossible but suspect that will be this weekend.
Note - Alfie and Hannah are both already qualified for Player of the Season. Charlie and Emile could qualify for PoS vote IF they can haul themselves up to at least 8 titles by winning 3 and 4 respectively this week and next. You never know, but it is a longshot!!

Well, all of Hannah, Charlie and Emile won overnight and are all three still in singles and doubles of their respective events, keep the chase for Alfie going !
As mentioned, Hannah, Charlie and Emile are all still going in their respective events:
Hannah - last 16 singles and last 8 doubles in Merida
Charlie - last 16 singles and still at last 16 stage doubles in Merida, match held overnight
Emile - last 8 singles and just this moment reached last 8 doubles.
Hannah and Charlie need to turn that position into at least one title this week to keep up any pressure on Alfie; Emile needs to take both those titles this week and do it all again next week!
But at least they are all in it and have a chance, however slim!!

Hannah into the last 4 in doubles, still in one event this week; needs to win this and both singles and doubles next week to equal Alfie now ie remain unbeaten !
Emile - still in singles at the semi stage and doubles final; needs to keep going this week and next week and win everything in front of him ! Like Hannah , no more losses for Emile!
But Charlies flush is busted and hes down and out this week in Mexico and cant catch Alfie.
so its Alfie on top with Hannah and Emile needing wins all the way for the next week and a half to try and match him !
So we are getting v close to the date we will know:
- which player wins most titles - maybe this weekend
- which player becomes womens doubles number one for the counting period - maybe this weekend or early next week?
- which players take part in our wildcard vote - next Thursday Nov 30 at midnight
- which player becomes girls number one - in the next week or so
- which players get through Nov PoM vote - in the next 10 days
- who our wildcards will be - in the next two weeks
- the final field for Player of the Season - by December 7th!

Have called Hannah as girls number one by 4th December. Only the women's doubles (likely to be Maia) and most titles (likely to be Alfie) routes are still to be decided, prior to November PoM and routes related to the results of that.
note - Hannah and Mimi are both already qualified and so this makes no difference to PoS qualification!

So Emile falls out of the chase in Brisbane and its left to Hannah. Doubles final in Merida tonight which she must win and then singles and doubles titles in Bradenton in a J300 next week!
