Germany , Argentina and Belgium all lost - to Switzerland, Finland and Korea respectively

Bad news is Heliovaara seems to have broken a finger in his victory...however, he doesn't seem to upset about it so hopefully doesn't affect him and Lloyd too much!

The DC group stages are in Sept, straight after the US Open; the following week, the Laver Cup is in Vancouver and the ATP Tour is in Asia that week and through til mid October.

Given the teams in the last 16, be interesting to see if some of the groups this year get played in USA/Canada/Korea as that would fit in well with schedules. As opposed to hoiking across to Europe.

There will be 4 venues, so clearly one or two will be in Europe but quite possibly a couple will be outside Europe this year

And it seems that the tie will be held outside Scotland for the first time for seven years, if Stu Fraser in today's Times is to be believed.  He suggests that it will be "a good opportunity to give fans in northern England a chance to watch top-level tennis".

Interesting and good. Id love to say Leeds and It was certainly built with one court play tennis in mind. He mention Manchester, and Liverpool has the Eurovision- Leeds has to be the sensible choice!

Interesting the article mentions that the grand slams are supportive of change to help DC regain former status, perhaps interested in hosting..

Format changes are possible next year given the financial uncertainty surrounding the competition after the Kosmos contract was ripped up because of a dispute over the annual fee due to the ITF. The four grand-slams, including Wimbledon, have all recently pledged to hold discussions with the ITF and ATP Tour in a bid to restore the Davis Cup to a premier event with an optimal format and place in the calendar that benefits players, fans and the sport overall.

It mainly changed to the new format as a panicked response to the atp cup getting set up as a rival with a similar format to this. Now the atp has gone and disposed of it/ changed it into the United Cup, theyre free to change it back.

My feeling is we might see a return to the 16 team event with two rounds (last weeks slot and September) of home and away ties but using the new 3 set format; and then a 4 team finals event in November/December.

Which might work as a hybrid of old and new

That would be Improvement but I think two semi finals and a final with a home team in the old style might still generate more revenue.

So is the Hard Rock Stadium. That holds 65,000 for American Football, but is reduced to 14,000 for tennis. I would expect the AO arena to be split to accomodate two courts (it's normally 21,000 according to wiki)

Maybe - last year they played one match a day for 6 days though - ie just one court; I guess they could create a practice court space at one end and reduce accordingly

It's only 21K for concerts when they let people in the flooring area.
There are 17500 permanent seats.

I'd be suprised if they could get two courts.
