Last group of boys

Very bored as in bed with Covid hmm, so was great to read your update Strongbow.  Encouraging to see so many (over 50%) still active in tennis. Also interesting that not necessarily those who were top juniors, or went to Power colleges that end up going pro post college. That would be an interesting analysis.

IMO getting a college scholarship, leaving home to study abroad, competing for your college for 4 or 5 years alongside studying for a degree/post grad takes a lot of determination and hard work, definitely good prep for life on tour or a job outside tennis. From memory, some of the players in your list were super bright, taking 4-5 A levels on top of tennis and are now working as Private Equity Investors etc.

As the article below suggests,  pro or or otherwise, all these guys can chalk up one in the win column smile

Link below a fairly lighthearted summary of the chances of going pro post college.

Great to see so many of our former and current college players in the draw for Edgbaston including 2023 grads David S and Finn B who are allegedly giving the pro tour a shot. This will be Finns second attempt to go Pro, so will be interesting to see what impact the 5 year window and time spent at Baylor has. David a Memphis grad, so maybe hoping to emulate Joes success smile

QR1: (q1) Finn Bass (Baylor) WR 1430 (CH = 756 in September 2018) vs (qWC) Thomas Pudney (Anderson DLL) UNR
QR1: (q2) Ewen Lumsden (Washington/Mississippi State) WR 1595 (CH = 1586 last month) vs (qWC) Leonardo Santoro_Fergusson UNR
QR1: (q4) Jacob Fearnley (TCU) WR 1893 (CH = 993 in December 2019) vs Elia Joël Affolter (SUI) UNR
QR1: David Stevenson (Memphis )UNR vs (q9) Michal Lusovsky (CZE) UNR
QR1: (q7) Damian Rodriguez (Princeton) UNR vs (qWC) Thomas Giles UNR

Likely MD: Charles Broom ( Dartmouth/Baylor), Toby Samuel (S Carolina) , Giles Hussey(Georgia State) , Paul Jubb (S Carolina) Josh Goodger (Tulsa/Florida) , Luke Simkiss (Tyler Junior college), Connor Thomson (S Carolina)

Jake Fearnley (TCU) playing Charlie Broom (Dartmouth/Baylor) today at Edgbaston. In the head to head, Charlie 2-0 up

Spotted Jake doesnt seem to be on the roster at TCU this year - would be his Senior yearhe was one of 5 Brits to benefit from the college accelerator programme, so maybe going Pro in favour of returning to college?

Just 1 minor point Lambda, Amelia Rajecki and Kristina Paskauskas are at North Carolina State( NC State ) . The university known as North Carolina is in fact UNC.

Its only significant because last year these 2 great rivals were first and second in the NCAA Team Championships! UNC champions and NC State runners up !

Rubbish! Headache, aches, temperature, shivers, got diarrhoea (sorry, it apparently comes with this variant), and had a nose bleed in the night, probably caused by sticking the swab too far up!

I think I may have had it since last weekend when I had retrospectively mild symptoms but it came on with a whoosh yesterrday.

I was supposed to catch an early train to London this morning , Id be on it now, so maybe thats the silver lining! haha.

thanks for asking CD! 5 days doesnt sound promising though !
