Just as general Brit-related info:

Paul Inchauspé (FRA) beat Luca Pow in R2 and is now into the semis

He goes to Reed's school in Cobham.

He's a classmate and good friend, I believe, of GB's Will Jansen (who - as mentioned before - speaks fluent French)

They certainly must make excellent hitting and training partners

Paul has just got a full scholarship to Princeton (Will has one for Yale)

(NB No idea why Paul is based in the UK, or why Will speaks fluent French ..... )

Thanks CD - I wasn't aware of Paul's British links. Ella and Mimi easily won their doubles against Imogen and Victoria so Ella will face Kaitlin twice today

Girls Doubles SF

(1) McDonald/Xu v (7) Charney/Quevedo (USA)

Well, that's a little more brusque than we'd have hoped:

SF

(3) Caitlin Quevedo (USA) def. (1) Ella McDonald (GBR) 6-2 6-0

Good luck for Mimi. Quevedo could be tough having beaten Isabelle Lacy twice this year, Ella twice and Mimi and Given Roach once, she seems to specialise in beating Brits! Nevertheless good week already for Mimi.

No joy in the doubles, a semi final defeat, but both will get a ranking boost.
Also worth reminding that there are a few due to drop out of the rankings at the end of the year, which will help all the GB girls.

It is Mimi's first Grade 1 final and will take her up to around 50 in the rankings. Her opponent's form is ominous (apart from stats already mentioned she has only had one extended set this week) but she is also playing in her first Grade 1 final

SF

(3) Caitlin Quevedo (USA) d. (1) Ella McDonald 6-2 6-0
(8) Mingge Xu d. (12) Yoana Konstantinova (BUL) 7-6(3) 6-4

F

(3) Caitlin Quevedo (USA) v (8) Mingge Xu

Girls Doubles SF

(7) Charney/Quevedo (USA) d. (1) McDonald/Xu 6-4 6-4

 That'll be very nice

And I make it that there will only be six 2007/2008 players above her

Out of interest, where might a tournament win take her in the rankings ?

Kaitlin was unfortunately even-handed with her performances against British opposition here
