Boys:

Billy Moxon, the other TE U14 winner, lost his QR1 very easily, but it was against the lad who then went on and qulaified, Dilhan Wasantha

Also qualifying are: Ferran Redza (a new name to me), Charlie Swaine and a Lithuanian boy

In the MD, the top seed is Henry Jefferson, followed by a Croatian player, Oliver Hague and then Luca Bluett as #4

Wildcards have gone to two Norwegian lads, Kouros Anssarizadeh (another new name) and Liam Channon.

In the early results of note, our qualifer Dilhan has beaten one of the Norwegian WCs.

Ilias Worthington - who won last week's J5 - has also won his R1, beating the French 6th seed

Due to some issues, I only got down at 3pm, so missed the boys.
Very comfortable win for Hannah Read. Lucia Cassidy is about to win and Danielle Piani won in straight sets in a high quality match with Sophia K.

Kate Mansfield retired in the first set against Brooke Black.
Given won very easily and Maria Ustic won in straight sets, but should have lost the first set. I can see why she won last week. She has a huge serve and decent ground stroke, but her serve was very inconsistent today and too many UE's in the opening set.
Good wins for Isabelle Walker and Mika S.

Just to finish the boys, congrats to Charlie Swaine who beat the 5th seed from Belgium, 7-5 in the third

And a huge shout out to Zech Hamrouni who beat the 2nd seed from Croatia, 4 & 4

(On the other hand, our Kyle McKay, seeded 7, also lost.

Quick report.
Henry Jefferson was given a huge scare by Dilhan Wasantha. Dilham played an exceptional second set, where he hardly misse
d a shot and his superb defending frustrated Henry. However he was unable to maintain those levels and Henry came through.
Luca Bluett came through a mammoth match that lasted 2 and a half hours.
Ilias Worthington was a worthy winner. He has a nice game with a whippy forehand.
Charlie Robertson is a nice prospect. He is only small compared to the others, but has a nice solid game.
Leo Lazarides looks a decent prospect and was well worthy of his win.
On the girls side, there were a couple of mismatches. Given Roach is too good for J4 and was too strong for an out of sorts Maria Ustic.
Mike won a tight encounter against Isabelle Walker, there was very little to choose between them.
Brooke had a very easy win - Brooke is quite wristy and hits unusual angles.
Little Abbie K had another easy win and seems to be back in form.
Lucia Cassidy is a player that has slipped under the radar and if she can stay fit will jump up the rankings. Very strange match. Hannah started in a massive sulk and went 5-0 down. Told her mother to leave and then started playing. Hannah took the second set, mainly due to a medical for Lucia, but Lucia came back strongly and deservedly won. Lucia is very powerful and good defensively and has a game that could see her do very well this week.
Mia was involved in a real topsy-turvy turvy match that swung one way or another and as of yesterday she somehow came through.
For the girls, three of tomorrow's matches are straight forward to call - Given, Danielle and Guilia should all win comfortably. If Lucia's injury is OK, she may be too strong for Abby.

The boys are much harder to call

Lucia is obviously the girl that got a fair bit of coverage on here a while back when she upped sticks and moved to France because the LTA wouldn't give her any support - although her results at the time weren't that great, and the bit I'd seen on French livestream didn't seem to imply that she warranted major support (although a little would be good - the UK all-or-nothing system is not always the best)

I think age has to be taken into account. I mean, Lazarides might be a 'decent prospect' but he's 17, it's a little old for J4 events. The same applies to Given - it's prety daft her playing J4s at her age - for someone who was part of the LTA elite, she should be with the others in Mexico but obviously hasn't got the results to enable her to do so and that's a different problem.

Interested to hear about Dilhan..... well done on him for pushing Henry so far

I like Brooke's whippy angles too - she has good courtcraft

Marcus Buckland was there watching his lad Luca Bluett.

Jess Rae was there yesterday, but not today, as a coach of Loughborough.

Brooke Black was with her mum, another former tour player and there were plenty of coaches from Stirling, Bath, Loughborough and Gosling to name but a few.

Having 8 out of 8 girls being GB, and 7 out of 8 boys being GB, this is truly a point-fest for our players

Brooke's dad is also Wayne Black , part of the famous Zimbabwe tennis family incl Byron and Cara (Brooke's Uncle and Aunt). Brooke's Mum (Selyutina) was Cara's doubles partner on tour for a while
