Have the Czechs arranged something else for tomorrow? It can be the only explanation for changing yesterday's winning formation! Pliskova back in at 1!!
I don't think with a tie like that you can say any team were particularly better. Sooo close
I know there was quite a lot of debate when they first generally came in but I do generally like MTBs in doubles. Better though when the right team wins - ie. the pair I want to win.
What a week still for the GB team. Did themselves proud.
No, youre right, I just said I felt they were better. Seemed the more likely to win throughout to me. I watched the doubles but not singles so cant say for tie overall, just what the doubles felt like. In our pair, each time Ive watched this week , twice, Lissey has seemed the stronger player of the two. More positive, less tentative than Liv. Still, theyve done well and hope they get progress As a a pair
You reckon Lissey is quite positive? I feel she needs to emit a bit more positive energy
Playing style wise, she seemed more attacking. Not personality wise. Assuming Ive got them the right way round. Lissey has the lighter hair colour, slightly reddish, Liv has more pointed features ?

That's the right way round. But I was joking about Lissey needing more positive energy, certainly on court! She has been in danger of exploding at times
Storm has been phenomenal all week, and she's a lovely girl too.
Was nice seeing the relationship between the two teams at the end, there's a lot of friendship and respect between them. And of course Anne knows Sam and Alicia from her playing days.
I was a nervous wreck for most of the doubles but it was a very nice celebratory atmosphere. A really fun day.
Agonising to get so close to the final but given the weakened team and the fact we didn't actually qualify in the first place I guess we can hardly complain.
Great to see Lissey and Liv finally get their moment in the sun, can't see how Anne can drop them now so just three singles spots available next time. If Emma and Katie Swan are fit and in form presumably Heather is dropped leaving it between Harriet and Katie Boulter for the final place.
I was surprised to see Harriet dominating so many of the rallies against Tomljanovic. Apart from failing to serve out the first set, I thought she was so impressive.
Missed most of the doubles. Thought they were great against Spain. Watched up until the first set tiebreak. Seemed to playing reasonably well. Storm Sanders looked in a different class.
Overall, a fantastic effort. Don't think I would have predicted any of the GB wins this week.

It just shows what is possible for the GB team when they get the chance to play at the Finals in front of a home crowd. All those years not being at the top table in Fed Cup, and our players not getting the experience and benefit of successful campaigns. Having to play away ties on difficult surfaces, it's a pity for those good players who maybe have missed out on success due to all that.
The ladies have exceeded expectations this week, but to have the ultimate success the team needs to be knocking on the door regularly, and the timing has to be right in terms of players being in their peak years, and having a team that is injury free. This week Boulter was clearly struggling with injury, and Watson just hasn't had the strongest run up to the tie. Full marks to them though, for giving everything to the cause.
Dart has been the revelation, and this was her time. She led the playing staff brilliantly, and it's really nice for her to get those wins for the team, against top 30-ish players. In her previous BJK cup ties she has performed really well too. The doubles pairing of Barnett and Nicholls also did very well, and they brought a lot of energy to the tie.
We've got strong players waiting in the wings, so maybe success will come about. Keothavong has done a good job over the last few years, I reckon, it's obvious all the players want to play in the team and they are comfortable with the support staff Anne has around her. It's difficult managing a small squad, where factors can easily conspire against success.

I'd agree that for the foreseeable future Lissey & Liv have put themselves in pole position for the doubles. May they keep progressing.
I think the singles situation could be much more changeable to be presuming anything before we next have to play a BJK Cup match. Who for instance would have foreseen the Katie S run of form that would make her such a strong candidate if fit and well now, though I personally wouldn't say even now she'd be in my top 2 - needs to come out and produce in 2023 to maybe move up my pecking order. And going forward, I certainly wouldn't be presuming these as the top 4 ahead of Hev and perhaps Jodie. Bank on it, things will move on in unanticipated ways during 2023.
It's actually going to be fascinating to see what sort of spread we have in the forum 2023 year end predictions.
Great Britain will play France in the qualifying stages of the next Billie Jean cup next April. Thats quite a tough draw with Caroline Garcia the current world number 4!
We were unseeded so not really any good options for us. A home tie about the best we could hope for really.
I don't quite understand why given this is for the 2023 competition they didn't wait for the 2022 edition to finish and then use the updated rankings to be honest.
There was no need for the draw to be done this morning.

Does seem bizarre not to wait for the post BJK Cup Finals rankings, though I guess as far as GB is concerned any significant rankings advance,, great as their play was, came about from a WC after they had originally failed to make the finals.
We must have been close to a seeding, as we weren't that far behind Germany and Slovakia on the old rankings, and surely will have moved up since the rankings are based on four years results.
