Great week. Great effort. But not to be. But incredibly proud. BJK Cup semi finalists - who would have thought it.

Take a bow ladies.

I think it was Liv, she left a number of volleys she really should have hit, a lack of confidence perhaps, certainly not clear in thought. They did well but it feels like Aussies were the better team overall and deserve their final place.

Good week for GB though

Not to be, but what a week for the GB team - they should be very proud of what they've achieved this week.

I don't think with a tie like that you can say any team were particularly better. Sooo close

I know there was quite a lot of debate when they first generally came in but I do generally like MTBs in doubles. Better though when the right team wins - ie. the pair I want to win.

What a week still for the GB team.  Did themselves proud.

No, youre right, I just said I felt they were better. Seemed the more likely to win throughout to me. I watched the doubles but not singles so cant say for tie overall, just what the doubles felt like. In our pair, each time Ive watched this week , twice, Lissey has seemed the stronger player of the two. More positive, less tentative than Liv. Still, theyve done well and hope they get progress As a a pair

Tremendous effort and so close. The match was a much higher standard than many WTA matches I've watched this year.

JonH:- "Still, theyve done well and hope they get progress As a a pair"

Their progress over the last year has been pretty impressive - from WR180/187 to WR60/63. If they'd won just a few of their close matches they'd be top 50 by now.

Absolutely , very aware of that and hope they push on further still

You reckon Lissey is quite positive? I feel she needs to emit a bit more positive energy   biggrin  biggrin

I think Storm Sanders was the best player on the court - she played superbly

But I'm not sure that made them the best pair in the doubles, as Sam looked very dodgy at times

And, as to team, overall, again it was Storm who won her singles (when she was well out-ranked)

So more like a Storm team than an Aussie team

But our women did excellently - it was SO close - gave the crowd another thriller - and managed to get BBC live coverage - that's got to be a success

Played their first WTA tour event in March this year. Started with being RU in the Lyon WTA 250. Have now played 13 WTA 500/250s  and won the Granby WTA 250 in August

I haven't watched that much of them before this week but they are at such a different level from a year ago and increasingly consistently good.

Playing style wise, she seemed more attacking. Not personality wise. Assuming Ive got them the right way round. Lissey has the lighter hair colour, slightly reddish, Liv has more pointed features ?
