The thread in the general section has been running since the competition was announced. As it is a mixed event surely it ought to be all in that section ? Perhaps the mods can sort it out.

I was wondering what the ranking points for this were and it seems that they are based on the opponents ranking so if, say, Harriet beats Badosa, Harriet gets 45 ranking points but if Badosa beats Harriet, Badosa gets 25 ranking points. Utterly bizarre. Good luck to the live ranking sites to work that out.
So I make the group stage ranking points available Harriet: (Match 1) 35 + (match 2) 45 Katie: 15 + 25
Krygios has pulled out. Cam now plays De Minaur and Dan plays Kubler.
Which as Kubler is ranked much lower than De Minaur is, also means that Dan now has 20 fewer ranking points available to him should he beat his Australian opponent.
Cam: 40 pts for defeating De Minaur + 55 for defeating Nadal Dan: 20 pts for defeating Kubler + 45 for defeating Carreno Busta
Just playing Devils Advocate here but does it simply need time? Will it become established if it runs for a few years (or is it dead in the water to start with?)

Its effectively the ATP Cup with women added. The problem both atp cup had and United cup will have is it is picked on top player - so it guarantees the top stars if they choose to play but it means very inbalanced teams across the piece - which devalues a team event and makes it uncompetitive. if that happens over time, it will with either disappear or go to being more of a top player in each nation world challenge type event, IMO.
A mixed team event is good, I liked Hopman Cup (which is now on clay in summer in 2023, but post French Open) but this format makes no sense for the United Cup

i also liked the hopman cup, you knew what you were getting, teams based on 2 decent singles players and then the fun of them playing together in mixed. All this United Cup, ATP Cup, new format of Davis Cup, Laver Cup, just leaves me cold.
