More big news for junior-watchers this week is the J3 in Spain where Hannah Klugman is playing

This is a clay event so a good chance for Hannah to brush up her clay tennis (which is definitely her weakest surface) and work on overall point construction, as clay allows you, while minimising injury risk,

J3, Spain

R1 wins for Hannah Klugman and Georgina Hays

In the J3 in Spain, Hannah Klugman won her R2 match in three sets.

Unfortunately, Georgina Hays lost hers in three.

However, in the QF doubles today, Hannah+ gave a walkover to Georgina+, so that's Georgina through which is great. And it may be Hannah's Spanish partner who is the reason for the retirement (the Spanish girl lost today), no real way to know.

Hannah's only played four events up to now so this is all positive territory, in the points

In the J3 in Spain, Hannah Klugman won her QF match easily enough.

Already it's another successful J3, and counting....

Egypt, J3:

Both Henry Searle and Given Roach lost in the SFs, in three sets, and both against better ranked players

Good week for them both though

In the doubles, Dani Piani & Given lost in the QFs

BUT Henry & Hugo Coquelin have made the final

Poland, J5:

R2 wins for Dan Hughes and Amelia Tye but not Enrico Franchi (although he's into the dubs semis)

Italy, J5:

R2 win for Fran Simpson who is also in the dubs semi

Ghana, J4:

QF: Roy Keegan, Isabella Wong and Allegra K Davies are all in the quarters here

On clay, her worst surface, Hannah (age 13) is now into the finals of the J3 !!!

She'll now play the top seed, Mathilde Ngijol Carre (FRA), age 14 (born 2007), who beat Millie Skelton at Roehampton, lost to Daniela Piani in Wimbly qualis (although grass is not really her thing) but - more importantly maybe - won Les Petits As (the first French girl for nearly 30 years) last year - beating Hannah in the semis (although, again, worth pointing out that Mathilde is 18 months older)

She's got a great serve (about 160 mph when on song), is tall, and agile.

But Hannah wasn't far off last time - and you'd expect the age gap to be more significant then and decreasing all the time....

If her serve is 160 something then I think it may be km per hour, not mph?

Good news from Ghana, J4, with two semi wins in the girls, leading to:

Final: Allegra K Davies (GBR) (age 14) v Isabella Wong (GBR) (age 15)

Also, Sophia Quagraine has made the doubles final (with partner from 'MLI' - Mali?)

Roy Keegan lost his singles SF

And his dubs SF, by 10-12 in the MTB :(

Isabella lost her dubs SF by 12-14 - even worse - although she's got the singles wins so who cares?

Poland, J5:

QF losses for Dan Hughes and Amelia Tye but Enrico Franchi+ is into the doubles final, after a really close match
