Boys & Girls: J5 Edinburgh, UK - clay (Week 32)

There's a J5 this week at Edinburgh

Unlike Bradfield, the entry list isn't quite as highly ranked, or as deep

There was no quali draw for the girls and two BYEs in the MD, which is pretty feeble

However, it makes it a very good opportunity for those inscribed.

Boys:

An Italian lad, Federico Scotuzzi, is top seed, followed by Luke Hooper, Arthur Attrill and Kyle McKay

Interesting name is Mark Ceban, our over 6ft tall 13 year-old, who is the LTA's pick for the best-of-age team. Played some nice tennis in the U14 Wimbledon championship.

Playing his first ever ITF, I think, although he's got Kyle in R1.

GIRLS:

After her victory last week, Hannah Read is top seed, with a BYE in R1, and stands a very good chance of winning this too.

Sarah Copley is second seed, followed by a Polish girl, and Elizabeth Evans, a 14 year-old who did quite well recently in Kenya.

Young Isabelle Britton is also in the draw.

Alice Wilson-Marsh is a fine player, one to watch.  Molly Robinson too seems to be doing very well.

Alice is a completely new name to me.

But she's age 13, and just got a win in the MD so big congrats to her

I've noticed Molly - she's another 2007 - but don't know her tennis - she also won today though

Other results to note:

Rosie Speed beat the 4th seed (Elizabeth Evans)

Isabelle Britton also won

In the boys, Mark Ceban put up an excellent show but lost in three sets

Most of the rest went with rankings

Boys

Big congrats to Ilias Worthington who put out the top seed, 2 & 2

He'll now play Jack Deveney in the QF

Jack Curtis v Luke Hooper is another QF

However, 4th seed Arthur Atrill lost, as did Rhys Watters, leaving a non-GB QF

ANd the fourth QF is Kyle McKay against the winner of an Indian boy and Luke Mcfarlane

TW18, your young Alice came good !

Only 13, she beat Anjali K, the 8th seed

She'll now play Hannah Read in the QFs, which is a big ask, but she's doing great

Molly Robinson is also through (you're on fire, Tw18) and will play the Polish 3rd seed

The other two QFs are not finalised yet

I'm hot enough today to be on fire, Coup Droit, that's for sure!

Isabelle Britton has done well - let's hope she goes through to the final.

Thrilled for Isabelle - this is her best result in ITFs (and counting)

She's an unusually talented ball striker

Hannah sailed through (again) - it's great to see her back to something like the form that she promised as a 14 year-old
