Although it doesn't have the depth of top 50 players that most Grade As have the girls event does have a couple of grand slam runners-up in Sofia Costoulas (Australia) and Luca Udvardy (Hungary). Ella McDonald slots in as 4th seed, joined by Marelle Raath via qualifying but Millie Skelton and Ellie Blackford lost out. Henry Jefferson negotiated qualifying in the boys event only to draw the top seed.

Yes, I'd only noted those who won but it's obviously true that someone like Viktor must have been kicking himself - as JAs go, this is not a strong one and those 90 points are real deal-changers for some of their rankings
I also see that last week's finalist in the girls (who beat Ellie) retired injured today.
AND that third seed, Udvardy, currently JWR 18, lost in two sets to Konstantinova, of Bulgaria, a talented 15 year-old but outside the top-100
Marelie, who has been a very welcome addition to GB tennis, has the devil's own job tomorrow though - the Belgian girl is JWR 3 and also about WTA 550 in adults
In the girls, Hep also lost, to the 7th seed, and Marelie, not surprisingly, did so too, to the top seed.
So Ella won hers, and is the last player standing....
She's also the only player still in the doubles so it really is the Ella-show
And Ella is now into the last 8? She is doing pretty well currently!
Shes doing really well, very mature and calm attitude on court and a very different playing style to most of the GB junior girls, is serving her well she plays a more consistent and patient game with less unforced errors and a good and reliable serve. Very effective on the ad side when she slices out wide. She plays the girl Ellie Blackford beat in the semis of the J1 last week so if she continues her form will play seed 2 Sofia Costoulas in the semis - shame its not live-streamed as would be good to watch. Sofia plays a very aggressive game, Ella could certainly frustrate her playing style.
