The team of Hannah Klugman, Mika Stojsavljevic and Arabella Loftus have been drawn in Group D, one of 4 round robin groups, along with USA, Latvia and Serbia. The USA are seeded 2 behind the Czech Republic, while we are seeded 7th. We start tomorrow with Latvia. Their number 1 has a Tennis Europe ranking of 9. We need to finish in the top 2 in the group to progress to the quarter-finals
A great start for our team with a 3-0 win, despite Hannah losing the first set to the TE9. Live scores are available here with streaming on some courts. USA beat Serbia 2-1 in the other match in the group
Quite a battle today but we did win the doubles to guarantee a place in the quarter-finals. They play the USA tomorrow with the winner being one of the top seeds in the quarters. However the USA have won all their singles matches easily so far (including against Serbia), so are clear favourites for that one. The US number one is Shannon Lam, finalist at the U14 Orange Bowl last year

I am guessing the ITF results tables are behind, we now have a 2-0 record?
Does that mean GB is into the QF stage for certain, both GB and USA have 2-0 records so are match with them is purely for position?
It isn't clear from the ITF site how the QF stage works, presumably the brackets are determined already? As the USA is 2nd seed, I presume we would face up to a team in Group B which contains the 3rd seeded nation?

Yesterday's epic encounter seemed to take a toll on Hannah, who was unable to register a game against the strong US number one. Losing both singles allowed both teams to play their third player in the doubles which we just edged. Hence we will play a group winner in the quarter-finals tomorrow. The ITF pages are a mess though (showing USA having lost a match and GBR only winning 1 - however there is a more reliable ITF tournament page semi-hidden There is also a story about the impact of the Lionesses on the team

The draw is now up on the ITF site, and yes it is indeed Slovakia tomorrow. They include Mia Pohankova (TE3 beating Mika en route to the European Championship final). Slovakia had a tough match today, beating Brazil in an extended match tiebreak in the doubles to win their group.
The Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup (BJK Cup?) are mentioned elsewhere.
These World Tennis Finals are for u14 players, yes? Are the Junior Davis and Fed Cups the equivalent for U18? Or is it U16? And/or, is there a separate World Team event for U16/18's depending on which the Junior DC/FC events cover?
Sorry if I am slow but the ITF site doesnt seem to cover it in much detail!
As far as I can see, that's the first time Hannah as ever lost a set to a fellow 2009 player.
It will do Hannah good to lose, especially with such a scoreline, as she hasn't lost much if anything at all. Have to learn to lose. Essence of a good player and champion.
Poor Mika - she's given her absolute all - won the first set - was a break up in the second - got to a tiebreak - was 5-2 up - and ended up losing the second set 7-6(5)
