If they've beaten the French team (the girls with the horrible long names ), doesn't that mean they're in the QFs?

Although I'm a bit confused, I thought from the ticker board that the match against the French team hadn't even been played yet....

Tickerboard was not correct. the itf junior website showed all results. Doubles round 4 and qf took place today

Ella in quarters singles and dubs semis tomorrow with Talia. Most likely vs seed 1 In  dubs.

Always nice to cause a bit of a stir

From the official event site:

13:45 - BRITISH GIRLS MARCH ON

There's been a trio of impressive wins by British girls this morning: Hannah Klugman continued her progress at the 14&U event in Most, ousting tenth seed Angelica Sara (ITA) 7-5 6-1. At the 16&U event in Prerov, Mingge Xu upset second seed Rose Marie Nijkamp 7-6(3) 6-3. And in Klosters Ella McDonald (pictured) has yet to lose a set, today beating Dimitra Pavlou (GRE) 6-1 6-2.

As David rightly predicted, this is a really big ask for Ella

The Swiss girl plays a very nice, aggressive game for clay, quick on her feet too

Ella lost the first set 2-6

Ella went 4-0 up in the second set, playing some nice tennis and causing her opponent to start shrieking

And then the Swiss girl played a bit better but Ella sort of capitulated and lost 6 games on the trot, which is pretty poor

Lost 2-6 4-6

Fair score but she should have at least managed to force that second set a little more when she was leading so well - had plenty of chances

British interest in all the European championships ended with Ella and Talia losing their semi to the top seeds

Doubles SF

(1) Daubnerova/Vargova (SVK) d. McDonald/Neilson Gatenby 7-6(2) 6-3

Celine Naef has just won her semi in straight sets so will take on top seed Andorra's Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (WTA154), frequently mentioned in this section, in the final
