The European under 16 Championships usually take place in Moscow, but this year have been moved to the Czech Republic for obvious reasons. Both our girls here are seeded but the boys will have to overcome seeds in their first matches to progress.
Well, that was terribly close - WHAT a scoreline - I guess she knows how to play tie-breaks
R3
(11) Isabelle Lacy def. Alexandra Zimmer (AUT) 4-6 7-6(2) 7-6(4)
That's a decent win as her opponent has beaten the now number JWR 10. It shows character to come back after losing the first set and getting through two tiebreaks. Good luck in the next round!!
Although Mimi is playing the second seed (JWR81 including a grade 1 final on clay) neither she nor Isabelle have been scheduled for the streamed courts tomorrow (though their doubles later on is on court 25)
R4
(11) Isabelle Lacy v Sarah Iliev (FRA)
(14) Mingge Xu v (2) Rose Marie Nijkamp (NED)
Really good effort from Isabelle, like Ella they both appear to be very calm under pressure, not panicking or trying to outhit their opponent and not afraid to go into longer rallies. Good luck to all today.
As the boys match before finally, finally finishes (after almost three hours), the court will now be ready for Mimi who has always been our best hope for today - my list had been Mimi, Hannah, Mika, Ella so, with Hannah and Ella having lost, fingers crossed for her (and Mika in her third set, of course
