The oop is now out - Mika is second on Centre (streamed) but Hannah is relegated to an outside court (though the pair are on the streamed court 1 later in the day for their doubles as they face the Czech top seeds)
Meanwhile, Mika walked the first set against the second seed
But the second set was a lot tougher, very close, with more highly disputed linecalls (they ended up with a supervisor on court) and Mika ended up being edged out of the tie-break
I havent been following too closely this week but as a summary, is it correct we have Mimi, Hannah K, Ella and Mika ( I dont know Mika) still left in across the different age categories in these Championships?

And the boys are all out?
Go the girls!!
Yes - extremely unusual to have representation still in all 3 age groups at the quarter-final stage (I cannot recall it in the 15 years I have followed the event - the only finalist in that period was Kyle Edmund in the under 14s, though we have won a few doubles titles)
Mika is the one player to beat a Czech girl so far - Hannah has the chance to follow suit tomorrow, though Kovackova is higher rated by the Czechs (who have put her at number 1 for the World Tennis Finals, with Samsonova at number 2 and Forejtkova at number 3 - reversing their TE rankings)
QF
(1) Alena Kovackova (CZE) vs. Hannah Klugman (GBR) (3) Laura Samsonova (CZE) vs. Sona Depesova (SVK) Lea Nilsson (SWE) OR Charo Esquiva Bañuls (ESP) vs. (4) Veronika Sekerkova (CZE) (9) Mia Pohankova (SVK) vs. (13) Mika Stojsavljevic (GBR)

The top half of the draw is tougher than the bottom half. Mika should have an easier passage now the no2 is out of the way. Hannah and the to othe Czech girls have a harder time.

So, tell me - there has been lots of noise about Hannah and, with Mimi and Hep, my limited junior tennis brain assumed they are our top 3 at this sort of age level...so I was quite surprised that Mika is seeded and Hannah isnt it, implying she is perhaps higher rated than Hannah...so why havent many of us heard of her??!
Be keen to understand if this is a true ranking comparison and why she has flown under the radar??!

Seedings for Tennis Europe under 14 events are based on TE14 rankings, which derive from results in tournaments run by Tennis Europe - you can see the current rankings of our players here. Hannah has hardly played any TE events so is well down the ranking list, so isn't seeded. We have talked about Mika particularly in the Category 1 grass court event pre-Wimbledon, which she won and got good points for. Hannah has played more ITFs, but they are ignored for TE14 rankings. Mimi and Hep are older, so feature in the TE16 rankings, which do take account of ITF points - which is why Isabelle and Mimi are seeded in those events.
