British interest ends in the under 18s. In the semis top seed and Roehampton champion liv Hovde takes on the powerful Canadian Victoria Mboko, who edged out Mimi's conqueror. Seventh seed Luca Udvardy is to me the surprise semi-finalist taking on Linda Klimovicova
QF
(16) Linda Klimovicova (CZE) d. (WC) Jasmine Conway 2-6 6-2 6-1
Doubles QF
(1) Bartunkova/Naef (CZE/SUI) d. (WC) Klugman/Oluwadare 6-0 6-1
In the first couple of games in the doubles, the opponents hit the ball at full force at Hep at the net - she wasn't hit by the ball, it was a perfectly valid shot, but she appeared completely shaken, lost her confidence and could barely hit a ball after that for the whole first set
The second set was a bit better but suffice to say, they were well beaten

It was a tough ask though against the Roland Garros finalists and WR 10 and 7. However I did notice in the couple of girls doubles matches I've watched that our girls seemed to be less effective at the net. Noticeably in the McDonald/Lacy v Li/Saito the opponents were significantly more attacking than our girls at the net.

Yes, as I'd said too, Isabelle and Ella played their doubles as singles players on a doubles court - and Ella's volley choices were 100% singles choices - really weird for a doubles match
But I don't think I'd say that overall - Hannah volleys quite well (especially given her age) and Hep, Jaqui O, Given, and Jessica were all pretty decent - good intent, fair technique and all heading in the right direction

That's good to hear. I'm always interested in your take on the technical side, especially with our younger players, as I imagine it takes a great deal to change things up later in your career.
The final is between Liv Hovde and Luca Udvardy. Liv is looking to add to the frequent number of winners (6 of the last 9) who have completed the Roehampton/Wimbledon double. A reflection of the lack of ranking points and thus weaker field in the girls is that unusually Liv is only ranked 1000 WTA while Luca is unranked. Uncommonly both the boys' finalists have higher ATP rankings
I'm not sure it is lack of ranking points. Bartuncova is ranked in the mid 350s wta, can only assume she doesn't play junior tournaments so didn't qualify for the singles but played the junior doubles
ETA she did play but lost in the QF
