Some good results for Sophia Johnson, Daniela Piani and Given Roach who all won against higher ranked players. Excellent effort from Ruby Cooling who only lost on a match tie break.

Very pleased for young Dani P

But Sofia J is still the stand-out 'unknown' player - unranked in juniors a week ago - obviously playing US tennis of some description - and puts out the Q2 seed, ranked 73 or so, with absolute ease

Just as in the boys main draw Brits draw the top 2 seeds. However the draw is weaker than usual with several top girls opting out, presumably because of the lack of ranking points (the boys draw by comparison is about as strong as usual with a cut of 61 against the girls 74)

R1 (L64)

(1) Liv Hovde (USA) v Ranah Akua Stoiber
(Q) v (WC) Hannah Klugman
(WC) Mingge Xu v Carolina Kuhl (GER)
Julie Struplova (CZE) v (WC) Ella McDonald
Talia Neilson Gatenby v Nina Vargova (SVK)
(Q) v (WC) Hephzibah Oluwadare
Renata Jamrichova (SVK) v (WC) Jasmine Conway
Joelle Lilly Sophie Steur (GER) v (WC) Isabelle Lacy
(WC) Sarah Tatu v (2) Celine Naef (SUI)

Liv Hovde (top seed and Ranah's opponent) has just won J1 Roehampton at a canter (although she only just squeaked past Ella in R1)

Hence why her match is not scheduled today, I'd assume

Tough for Ranah - but always better to catch them on R1

Because I did it for the boys' thread, just out of curiosity, here are the junior rankings of our current adult women entrants

Junior Career High rankings

Emma Raducanu - 20
Heather Watson - 3
Katie Boulter - 10
Katie Swan - 2
Harriet Dart - 55
Jodie Burrage - 14
Lily Miyazaki - 198
Sonay Kartal - 102

Similar to the men, 5 out of 8 were top 20 juniors. There are also two 'outliers' (although far less marked than in the men)
