Boys: J1 Roehampton, grass (Week 26)

Qualifying started today in Surbiton for the tradition Wimbledon warm-up event.  There is as usual a strong field, meaning that seeds in qualifying are ranked inside 100.  There was a galling 15-13 defeat for Henry Jefferson in the first qualifying round, but so far Kyle Hughes and Zach Stephens have claimed wins in match tiebreaks, and Freddie Ridout won in straights.  Will Jansen's exploits at Nottingham should earn him a Special Exempt, while Patrick  Brady, Matt Rankin, Phoenix Weir, Louis Bowden, Luca Pow, Ben Gusic Wan Viktor Frydrych and possibly Wil Jenkins are likely wildcard entries.

Draws are here - the main draw starts on Sunday

Congrats to Freddie Ridout who has qualified for the main draw (Zach lost, Kyle's result still to come)

Kyle lost, so just Freddie adding to the Brit main draw contingent. Draw should be done later today, with main draw matches at Roehampton starting tomorrow

The main draw is reasonably kind with just 3 Brits drawing seeds, and 2 of those are a Peruvian playing his first ITF on grass and the Nottingham finalist who retired from his match today. That leaves Luca, who has a tough assignment with the second seed, ATP549 after reaching a Challenger final recently

Scores are available from some courts here   The only score currently showing with British interest is Luca's match, where he has done well to take the first set to a tiebreak, but has lost that 7-2

As expected Will was able to deal with the Peruvian seed. Henry just missed out, while Kyle is playing a LL rather than the injured Nottingham finalist

(SE) William Jansen d. (10) Ignacio Buse (PER) 6-3 7-5
Gerard Campana Lee (KOR) d. (WC) Henry Searle 4-6 6-3 7-5
