Strangely I thought Katie would beat Tan and Heather would lose to Juvan.
Yes, makes you laugh, doesn't it ?
Not sure many would have had Heather was last woman standing......but here we are
Katie should do a proper analysis of that match - and then move on. But not just chalk it up as a 'match to forget' - there's far more important stuff to take away from that.
My feeling is that Katie is probably emotionally spent , losing her gran, amazing high of reaching round 4, her boyfriend doing well and probably stress around that for her as well - her brain tank was effectively empty and the different style of Tan just blew her apart.
Shes done well these few weeks, needs to take her game Into the hardcourt season now and leave this match behind her.
I suspect you're close there. Shades of Emma last year, lots going on and eventually hit the wall but still a great few weeks. The real work was the weeks before Wimbledon when Katie, Heather and Jodie potentially moved themselves into a seeded position for US qualifying.
Also Katie has actually played a lot less tennis than a lot of the players here over a sustained number of years because of injury. She's therefore not played as many different styles and practised against them as much as some players. She's also less used to raising her game for a sustained period. I also thought Ryan Peniston struggled with that, and Jack Draper too after their efforts at Eastbourne.
I'm not surprised but she's definitely playing a lot better than last Wimbledon and it's a good platform for the hard court season.
Anisomova was emotional after that win today as were those in her box. No one can tell me this years Wimbledon is any way diminished, the stories and performances across the board are
Testimony to that .

At the margins I think it may have been early on with a few players less competitive on grass.
But yes in general I was never at all convinced by posts about 'exhibition' tournament and just not getting that it was still Wimbledon! - you fight for ranking points to get to spots in such as this, and for the vast majority you don't then not bother because there are no ranking points here.
It is possible that a player born in Moscow could play in the ladies final and that is Rybakina who is now a Kazak. In the last 16 but no mention of her at all. Somebody on the Tennis forum suggested that there is nothing to stop the WTA rescinding not awarding points and award them for Wimbledon. Certainly would be of benefit to Heather and Katie B if they did.
I've kept a pretty low profile on here since that Jodie match , but man, what a great win for Badosa there. One ex Wimbledon champion today, another one to come on Monday - her side of the draw certainly hasn't fallen apart. At least she'll get another opportunity on Centre Court.
