Weeks 26 and 27 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - women's singles

So happy for Heather. Totally deserved. Hope she can keep this going.

Bottom half draw:

M. BOUZKOVA
versus
C. GARCIA

E. MERTENS
24
versus
O. JABEUR
3

T. MARIA
versus
J. OSTAPENKO
12

H. WATSON
versus
J. NIEMEIER

I mean - really?! Jabeur must fancy this but to be honest, any of them could become a household name this next week. Crazy.

With singles, womens doubles and (currently) mixed, Heather will have earned over £200k so far this WImbledon. Presumably that is a first for her?! Nice one, Heather!

As well as being one of those calling for Liam to retire a couple of years back, I was also vocal at one point about Heather retiring as well.

Those recommendations both look good, dont they?

Anyone else looking for career advice, send me a PM.

Katie B opens on Court 2 tomorrow against Tan. Katie must fancy that match.

The final could be a Tan-Maria final. Maria won Bogota earlier in the year.

If Watson wins on Sunday she could face Ostapenko who can be very hot and cold .

Its not beyond the realms of possibility that Heather could end up in the semi-finals which would be extraordinary given her recent form.

Ostapenko has been in reasonable form  in the grass court season  being  runner up at Eastbourne.  She's also the last player to beat Swiatek. Her popularity has increased as well since Birmingham when she finished up with the crowd supporting Yastremska.

It is a different Heather playing at Wimbledon than the one who was at Eastbourne last week.

I think that offering the current PM some career advice would be a good idea.

I've had this feeling about Ostapenko and I will still take her to emerge as the finalist. But yes all of them should see it as a great opportunity.

Impressed by Garcia serving 18 aces in 2 tie-break sets.

A bit late to the party but well done to Heather. I watched the end and was as nervous as anything as she tried to close it out. Fantastic that she did so and it was so lovely to see her so happy at the end.

Good luck in the 4th Rnd.

It's pretty astonishing given her indifferent form so far this year, although a fortunate draw and a little help from her opponent as well also played their part. Won't have a single point to show for it though.
