Two big errors for *0-30. Net approach works, then a very welcome ace for *30-30. Nets the forehand and it's break point. Just can't get to match point. Big serve for deuce. Weak second serve is punished. Again does wide on the ad point, gets the short return, Juvan is waiting for the crosscourt but nets. Perfect volley from Juvan for another break point. Brave move forward from Heather and she puts the second smash away. Another gorgeous volley from Juvan for break point 4. The wide serve on the ad side works again. Finally a first serve, second shot clips the line and Juvan goes long.

A match point for the first time. First serve, short return, good ball into the corner. Wow what a pass from Juvan but Heather launches herself into the volley and it plops over and drops dead.

Yes!!! Oh Heather well done!!

Yes!

What a fabulous volley to finally get over the line. Despite the last minute drama, this was the most solid I've seen Heather play in years. She weathered Juvan's late inspired play and played with confidence to get to the fourth round.

Heather Watson GBR d. Kaja Juvan SLO 7-6(6) 6-2

Wasn't that match point almost a direct replica of Katie Boulter's????

Dear ol' Hev

Oh god is Niemeier. That match earlier in the year was brutal (physically for them, psychologically for us).

Next opponent for Heather Jule Niemeier, who Heather beat in three earlier this year.

Well done heather!! I think this will be exactly what she needed to give the next year or two a proper concerted effort - shes capable of top 50 again if she wants it. Enjoy the moment hev

Well done Hev!

I found the post-match handshake in the Niemeier-Tsurenko match quite amusing. Tsurenko seemed distinctly unimpressed by her opponent's victory celebrations biggrin

Great to see Veronelli in her box again. I have always felt she has played so much better when he's around and I'm sure his presence has helped in this tournament. Hope she can keep him on board a bit longer and get her ranking back up again.

Congratulations Heather. I love it when an older player reaches a new target.
Just shows you anything can happen especially if the draw opens up.

Delighted for Heather - if she carries on like this she could be wearing Tiffany earrings rather than promoting Always wink
