Weeks 26 and 27 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - women's singles

Harmony Tan next for Katie in Rd 3.

A real chance for both her and Heather to make week 2.

And steam duly ran out - but a great effort nonetheless

Harriet didn't do much wrong - she just couldn't get Pegula out of position enough - the American was impressive

A shame given who would have awaited Harriet in round 3 but it was over really as soon as she was broken at the start of the second. Pegula just cut out the errors and Harriet couldn't find a way through her. But another impressive performance, really nice to see the level she brought today.

Shame for Harriet. But she's had a decent grass court showing.
Up into the 80's now on ranking.
Just hope she can build on this now on the regular tour.
Direct entry into the US Open and hopefully the Aus Open.

Rankings wise, Harriet still comes out a massive winner from the grass court season. Glad she got the wins where it counted ranking wise, shame for Heather and Katie - but hey, it's the biggest tournament in the world and lets enjoy the ride!

It's a big shame for Harriet ,Heather and Katie that there are no ranking points for Wimbledon. Decided by a handful of people like Azarenka and Stephens.

Fairly inevitably, and understandably, after the Government apparently twisted the LTA and AELTC's arms.

Bit of a shame indeed. But as Crispy says, still enjoy the ride! The players are.

Great match from Katie. Pliskova's serve prolonged the outcome. And Katie is still guilty of overhitting. Tremendous atmosphere on centre court - drowned out the pa system at times ! No wifi or data signal though, so had to leave to check other scores.

Great win for Boulter, the crowd noise was incredible based on the TV coverage. She seemed to grow in belief as the second set was won. Conversely, Pliskova crumbled under the pressure and had completely lost her way by the end of the match. Boulter took the match to her opponent, playing fearless tennis and fully deserved the win.

Yes, incredible noise - I can't remember being at a match that loud.
