5-5 and 2-1 down in sets Nadal is pushing it to the very edge again. The commentary reminds us that he has never lost in 7 quarter finals at Wimbledon, but you have to wonder how long his body can sustain this.
I do think Kyrgios' situation shows the silliness of the AELTC's Russia policy.
After all, what's worse, giving glory to players who just happen to be Russian, or giving glory to a player accused of domestic abuse?
Probably the wrong thread for this, but a nation that has invaded another sovereign country with no provocation causing countless deaths, injuries and misery and caused a global economic crisis outweigh a single case of domestic abuse - no matter how bad that single case is (at least in my eyes).
Whether punishing the players that are the economic and sporting face of the country is appropriate is a different argument, but there can be no doubt in my mind that the offence that is being punished is several orders of magnitude greater than that allegedly done by a lone Australian.

Yes, obviously the offence of the Russian state is greater! I didn't imagine anyone would think I was claiming the contrary. My point was that the Russian players are not complicit in those crimes, whereas NK is an alleged criminal. So, if the argument is that a Russian winning confers glory on war, then it must also be true that NK winning confers glory on (alleged) domestic abuse. I don't agree with that logic, but it's the logic of the AELTC and their ban.
Anyway, back to tennis - apologies, I just didn't want to be misrepresented.
Nadal purposefully slowing down his serve by about 10/20mph and struggling on his backhand, and his dad in the stands signalling for him to resign, is certainly a commitment to the bit!
I'm looking forward to the Nadal match with interest now It'll make interesting dynamics, and reading in MTF it's not an uncommon injury, nor is it uncommon for the injured party to carry on playing at full pelt.
I'm so sick of Nadal's "injuries". It's the same EVERY time he struggles in a match.
I completely agree. The guy is the most obvious faker in world sport...and still his blinded fans commend him for his bravery!
... and his detractors blindly abuse him regardless of his actual injury status.
As a neutral, I thought it was fairly obvious that he was physically hampered. On the upside he didn't go for a toilet break two sets down and come back a completely different player that wins three sets on the bounce.
